My only beef with Ali is that he never threw body-shots with any degree of talent or venom. Occasionally he could be spotted working the left-jab downstairs on the bag, but he wasn't a body puncher. Ali was, of course, tall for his time at 6'3", only an inch shorter than Foreman, as tall as Norton, 3" taller than Frazier and taller than Quarry, Cooper, Doug Jones, etc.

Thats my only beef with Ali, he was a better fighter than Pac.

Was this a serious question, btw??

For his Era, Ali was a VERY TALL Heavyweight, as U Illustrated...For Better or Worse, the Klitchsko's (Tall for THIS Era) have Proven to B DOMINANT Heavy's in the Post Lennox Era & NEITHER of them R Renown for Bodypunching Either...

Hell, Lennox Lewis WASN'T Much of a Body Puncher Either...

    Who cares?

Hit and not get hit is the name of the game. The dude didn't need body shots.

Not at all.....my point was that the only facet of his game which was missing, was perhaps body shots, in that, i.e. ......everything else was there.

I wouldn't say Ali's sole weakness was a lack of bodypunching. All fighters have more than one deficiency to their game.

the blacks are flooding to support Ali, shocking turn of events.

No sense in arguing with people with such a ridiculous agenda, its pacquiao by a landslide.

There are, in this thread, 6 guys whose racial makeup I know for a fact is white (myself included) who voted Ali ... there are two other guys whose racial identity I do not know who voted for him and there is REED and Sly

So far I see you (famous for bold idiotic pronouncements learned at the feet of your master, the provocative-but-highly-original Free Ike... whose style you painfully imitate, only without any of the wit) and RWTPunches and MWS (who is so absurdly biased in favor of all things Pac that even discussing boxing with him has become utterly pointless)

10-3... a landslide in favor of Ali, as far as this little poll goes

2 black guys point out how ridiculous your denigration of Ali is and now, all of the sudden, it's a "racial" thing:shit:

    go fuck yourself, Jaws

OR, U Could've Actually Attacked REED's REASONING, which was DETAILED in Several Posts...But Instead, U Resorted to the LOWEST Common Denominator, RACIAL Bullshit:shit:...

C-Dogg's ALREADY Wiped his Feces Around the MAJORITY of Any Semblance of an Argument U THOUGHT U Had, Scrub, so REED Won't Even Bother Cleaning Up the Mess...

It STILL Amazes REED how Much YOUR YOUNGER Brother has on YOU, In Terms of OBJECTIVITY, INTELLECT & the Ability to APPLY it...

Ugh. Go away, Jaws, just go away. I'd rather see Fightbeat create a "Planet Stafford" section of this forum than have to read even one more post from you.

Really...just go away. Take your crappy punk attitude, your historical revisions, your infantile video clips and your various agendas with you and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Okay, so he on occasion threw a right that was a shade too slow, or left his right hand down and was susceptible to the left-hook. No massive deal. I would say the Henry Cooper who floored Clay/Ali was better than the guys who exploited Pac when he was at the same stage of his career.

Pac also cuts....Ali got hit in the face a lot by Joe Frazier [whom Ali allowed to come in at his own weight ] and it wasn't until Joe landed that left hook over the afore-mentioned slow right hand that Ali displayed any major facial damage.

What are you talking about? Fightbeat is already Planet Stafford. The quality and excitement of the forums here has always revolved around the one dat dem call the sly.

Oh, sure. I wasn't trying to convey Pacquiao was necessarily better, just that both, & all fighters, have their short-comings. You will always need more than one bullet-point to ascribe them.

I think a prime Ali was a better boxer and had a better chin than Marquez who IMO made Pac look average. I'd pick Ali to beat Pac in a P4P fight based off that and other things. Ali is greater than Pac no doubt.

I dont know about that. Pacquiao is plainly better than either Frazier or Norton as a fighter, and Ali was made to look average at times by both, just to reverse your thinking.

A past-prime Ali, yes, but like many people, Im of the view Ali would always be troubled by Frazier and Norton both.

I fail to see the relevance here. Did Ali fight either Frazier or Norton before his forced layoff when he could still dance for 15 rounds and was very elusive with both lightening hands and feet?

Had he fought the 1964 version of Sonny Liston in the 70s, he would have had trouble too. He would have had much more trouble with Terrell also. When will you guys get it? Ali was a very different fighter pre and post layoff.

does the fact that Ali was hit by every left hook ever thrown at him harm his chance of being the 'best fighter ever'??
