Really, I'd rather see a Faber-Cruz rematch than Cruz defending against Torres, Bowles or Johnson.

I won' t argue, don't know too much below fw. But still, if it's indeed true, I must say 135 must be the weakest division in the sport, or maybe I just underate Cruz ( after all, he look far better vs Jorgenson in his last fight )

We will see, but I doubt he'll be champ 3 fights from now.

while cruz didn't looked that good, the bw division is really weak afaik. I could see him dominate fo a while. he's a good fighter, but his lack of power will hinder him .

Cruz has already beaten Benavidez and Bowles and now Faber. I don't see anyone who can give him any problems, especially not Torres. Horrible matchup.

Maybe Michael McDonald down the line, but I don't think he's good enough, unless he makes vast improvements, but considering he's 20 years old, he probably could.

Featherweight is weak. Bantamweight is pretty good actually.

Cmon dude. Cruz would beat him 50-45 if not stop him. I think you just have a hard on for all things non UFC.

I agree 100%.. That's why, for me, let's just see a Faber rubber match. It is the best fight to make next.

I posted earlier that Melvin is becoming one of the better fighters in the LW division. But he has typically lost to decent ground fighters with solid chins.

I remember his fight with Nate Diaz. Once Melvin nailed Diaz with a clean shot and Nate didn't fall, Melvin lost all heart.

It will be interesting to see where he goes from here.

i agree to an extent. Guillard always reminded me of Judah. In the sense that he's a mental midget. But still, he looks like he turned a corner recently

I disagree. If you look at all organizations, there are better featherweights. Hell, there are more guys outside the UFC at 145 that could make noise.

Guys like Sandro, Pitbull, Warren, and Hioki make 145 fun.

    Bantamweight is thin in comparison.

Johnson, Torres, Bowles, Faber, Cruz, Jorgenson, Pickett, McDonald, Barao, Benavides.

Outside of the UFC you have Warren, possibly Villa(we'll see how he looks at 135lb, he's coming up from 125) and Fun Size Machovsky.

Much better than 145. You have some good guys coming down from LW, but a lot of the talent is dispersed. The UFC did just sign Hioki though, so it'll pick up.

I don't agree with that, I just think like division like 170, the UFC has most of the 135lb talent. I don't even think Sandro is that good. Warren is at 35 now.

Plus, the 145lbs in the UFC aren't great. Hominick just fought for the title and he probably shouldn't be ranked even in the top 5. At least they have Griffin and Florian coming down.

I thought it was a good win for Cruz because faber is a bad match up for him and he still won.

The only problem with Bantamweight is that it is top heavy. The lower tier guys are bad. Like the guys that opened the show.

    At 145 I'd counter with:

Aldo, Mendes, Hominick, Pitbull, Warren, Sandro, Hioki, Nunes, Florian,

Not even close in my opinion.

Warren will be defending his title at 145 BEFORE moving down to 135...So yeah.

The 135lbers are significantly more proven.

Look at how highly regarded Mendes is compared to the 135lbers. He's basically, career wise on a similar plane as Michael McDonald, but he isn't nearly as highly ranked. Basically because Mendes is in such a thin division he was pushed up to the top quickly.

I'd also point out that a guy who was in line for a title shot just lost to Eric Koch....

Please dude. The reason Mendes moved up the ladder quickly is because the champion at 145 is Jose Aldo who sent the previous top guys like Faber and Brown packing and headed to a lower weight class.

But Mendes isn't fighting Aldo next anyway. It's Florian who is far more deserving giving his experience and run at 155.

Nevertheless, Mendes is still a better prospect and talent than McDonald.

How do you figure Assuncao was in line for a title shot?

    ...Josh Grispi

Whoops...I confused Eric Koch with George Roop. Not sure why, because Koch is a decent fighter.

Mendes isn't impressive. Typical power double legger with no submission grappling and marginal striking ability.

    He's also already 26.

Ahhh. Yeah that was shocking. But I like Roop. He isn't terrible. I would rank him higher than guys like Leonard Garcia and the Korean Zombie, who Roop knocked out cold.
