Ah, Displaced Paranormals. The New Universe. I'll liked Psi-Force myself.

The cure storyline actually did come from Uncanny X-men. At one point Storm's boyfriend used it on her and took away her weather powers, I believe.

The best single scene in those four movies? Haven't seen the new one, but Magneto pulling that submarine out of the water is pretty riveting.

Yeah, the sub scene is something else when you watch the new one. I also loved Magnetos grandest display --- shifting the Golden Gate Bridge in The Last Stand.

  4. I concur.

Very closely followed by Magneto's escape from the plastic prison, which also happens to be in X2....part of the reasons why I stad by my viewpoint that X2 is not only the best Xmen film but the best comic book film to date.

I actually kind of snickered at Magneto's escape, to be honest. It was all working out OK until he decided to levitate to freedom with his arms crossed over himself, like a cartoon. That had to kill the drama

    Just watched it aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...

8 out of 10 - Major Spoilers below.

By far the best X-Men film. Now I know that people bitch because there's no Wolverine but let's be honest, he'd be out of place in this film. X1, 2 and 3 all suffered from the same thing: Wolverine movies. It is tragic that top flight actors like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen served as backdrop to Jackman although admittedly he is talented. Those films were about him and it was refreshing to see Prof X and Magneto get top billing.

Speaking of which, I have never seen either Fassbender or McEvoy in anything else as far as I know and they both REALLY impressed me. So much so that I will be seeking other performances from both men so if anyone has any recommendations, please share.

I may be in the minority here but I believe they pulled the trigger too quickly on the splintering of the orignal Xmen. I assume this will be a trilogy so this should have been laying the groundwork for the second act in which Magneto turns on Charles. The paralysation could have waited until then too. As this film was mainly about Magneto's lust for revenge, I think a slower burn could have propelled that turn into the stratosphere. All of that assumes lightning would strike twice of course.

Loved the multiple cameos. Loved the Wolverine scene. X and Mag knew immediately that they were wasting their time and Wolverine's attitude fit perfectly. Also a Michael Ironside sighting!

Highly recommended. I like the new direction and cast although the ancillary Xmen were both underused and forgettable. I assume they will be killed off in sequels. Much like the Star Trek reboot, this is a interesting take on the series. Sequel will be compulsary viewing for me.

She's the daughter of Kravitz and Lisa Bonet so I'm fairly sure you could call her black.

Also, as a white man I find your above comment offensive.

Well the X-men and Magneto arent true enemies yet. They can still work together in sequels.

    Fassbender was in Inglorious Basterds.

Yeah I did a bit of a search. I have seen films with both in it. Fassbender was in IB which I disliked but I believe he was in the excellent scene in the German bar. I'm not surprised that was my favorite part of that film.

McEvoy was in Wanted. Hated that film with a passion but I won't hold that against him.

I'm sorry if I offended you. My problem isn't with whites at all, but rather the racism and stereotyping that continually comes out of Hollywood which they refuse to address. Instead they'd rather take it a step further by changing nothing and having a big laugh with it by disguising it all as coincidence.

By the way, I hate what they did to the Wasp. First of all she was a white woman and she couldn't shoot crap out of her mouth. She could shrink and shoot lasers out of her hands, but I think that was from her gloves. Also I'm pretty sure that Emma Frost didn't have any powers and if she did, turning to diamond wasn't one of them.

Your interpretation of racism in cinema is subjective, to put it diplomatically.

It's OK pal. I know the Hollywood Racist Moment is part of your reviews. Just sensitive I guess.

was no one else distracted by this?
this guy would constantly pronounce many words in Irish :pathetic:
i don't think that the Magneto character has any ties to Ireland :scratcher:

  15. Fassbender was excellent in his short role in IB. I've said before that he would be a great James Bond. I also remember Fassbender from 300.

I only know McEvoy from Chronicles of Narnia - TLTWATW

He was Tumnus the faun. He was also in some war movie I saw.

    Both very good actors...particularly Fassbender.

  16. Word. I absolutely love that film for some reason. Very rewatchable.
