    Ortiz knocks mayweather out.
If this happens, boxing has a new star out there.
Mayweather will have no choice but to fight pac and it will make more exciting fight possibilities with Ortiz and pac.

If Ortiz beats Floyd, no one will give a shit about Floyd-Manny. It becomes a meaningless fight. Well, practically meaningless.

I disagree. It will still be a big fight. Maybe not the a mega fight like before, but still be big. You cant tell me that people wont be hyped for this fight.

not sure if he'd be a new star. if he fought pac right away and beat him, then yes. i doubt ortiz has the chin to withstand pac's power though.

If Ortiz beats Mayweather, Mayweather's stock plummets. It wouldn't plummet just because Mayweather has a loss, it would plummet because it was an ordinary fighter like Ortiz that beat him.

Manny is always going to be a draw until he loses, so yeah, it would still be a big fight. But it would not compare to an undefeated Mayweather taking on Manny.

It becomes mostly meaningless, to me anyway.

Well, to be clear, I meant it in the sense that he's not considered an elite fighter.

    nonsense.

Best thing for boxing is for Mayweather to look like a KILLER against Ortiz. The Pacquiao fight would then be made without a doubt. There would be no where for either of them to hide.

I dont think Ortiz is a great fighter either, but he is also young and can improve. Just like Manny did. Who knows. 147 could be great for the kid. But if he beats mayweather he will be an instant star.

the best thing for boxing really would be for ortiz to win impressively. he is 10 years younger and highly marketable. contrary to what some here seem to think, mayweather jr wont all of a sudden become an espn2 fighter if he loses one fight. he is well established as a draw in the game of boxing and ortiz beating him just means boxing has another star. ortiz becomes a viable foe for a mega fight with pacquiao and the rematch with mayweather jr would sell a couple million payperviews as well

Ortiz is in his prime. He has proved as much and more at this stage, by beating the undefeated Berto for a title, as Cintron and Margarito did at the time Floyd moved up to 147lbs.

No..what the hell are YOU talking about? May-Pac is the biggest fight to be made in years, arguably the biggest non-Heavyweight matchup in history and you would like it to be fucked up by Mayweather getting knocked out by a relative unknown?

What the fuck is wrong with you?

They arent fighting. Both ego's are too fucking big. someone needs to be taken down a notch. Mayweather loses, you will see him do everything in his power to prove he is the best. That means fighting pac, ortiz, etc.

By mayweather winning, we will get more of the same. But as long as your hero still has his zero that's all you care about right?

As of Now, Floyd vs. Pac would Likely SURPASS Floyd vs. DeLa as the BIGGEST PPV Ever...If Floyd is Coming Off a LOSS, there's No WAY the Fight is as Huge...

You are right. And i didnt say it would be. But what is better? The fight being bigger than DLH and not happening or the fight being smaller than DLH and happening? I dont know about you, but i want the fight to happen.

If I controlled the world, I'd want Pacquiao and Mayweather wins to close the year... followed by them making it happen next Spring.

    you're a retard.

Mayweather has had 100 chances to care about boxing and nut up to fight pac, and has not done it any of the times. If he wins it'd be no different.

As usual you're wrong, and your REED esque nuthugging is teh gay.

Anthony you are a prophet. Ortiz will not win, but hopefully Floyd tears his achilles in the ring.

Pac/mayweather wins decreases the chance of them fighting.

A Mayweather loss without a doubt makes this fight happen.

    Yeah, it's not looking good.

But if Ortiz beat Mayweather, I'd have a hard time of looking at Mayweather/Pacquiao as a competitve fight.

The title of this thread is "The Best thing for boxing would be......"

To me, nothing would be better for boxing than an undefeated Mayweather facing the P4P king in Manny to end 2011 or begin 2012.

Everything else might be helpful, but nothing would be as good for boxing as the two best fighters on the planet ACTUALLY fighting BEFORE either of them slips.
