Could be. I love him in the early rounds, but I don't like him much over a long fight. Even against Berto, he was fading.

Sounds good if it happens. Unfortunately, it wont. So what is the best thing? It would be TERRIBLE for boxing if these two never fought.

hate to break it to you fellows but if ortiz knocks out mayweather jr, it means mayweather jr is no longer one of the two best fighters in the world.

It's never gonna happen so don't worry.

I never thought I'd see the day Roy Jones got knocked out...we've seen that what...four or five times now?

    Anything is possible.

Floyd will be 35 by the time he fights Manny...same age as Roy when Tarver tapped him out.

  8. Since you're so sure. When Floyd beats Ortiz and then signs to fight back...I'll have one night with your wife.

  9. Exactly. Silliest thread ever.

Its a nice dream TRP has. Very nice dream indeed.

Whenever you learn to face reality, you will understand my thread.

  12. True. Fortunately, Floyd, Like Bernard...doesn't rely as much on speed and reflexes as Roy did. Floyd is a very smart fighter that can adjust and beat people even when at a speed and power deficit (Judah for example).

  13. I didn't say I'd bone her! I'd just slap her around a bit and tell her who's boss!

    lol @ judah.

  15. Judah was still prime at the time..and a tricky fight for anyone. But fair enough. I could have tried a better example...

and hopkins, unlike mayweather jr and jones jr, takes a great punch.

He just came off a loss to Baldomir and didn't win his two fights after his loss to mayweather.

You couldn't use a better example because you have no other examples.

Sorry my wife is a female, but I do live in Long Beach, i could ask around for you.

Floyd will murder ortiz then talk trash and go back into retirement.

Yes because if Mayweather completely dominates Victor Ortiz....then he will have the courage and balls to fight Manny Pacquiao...all May needs is a push....

YUP....he won't retire but he will take a few 12-18 months off...and when an opportunity present itself for easy money he will jump back into the ring...

If Ortiz thinks he is going to bull-walk into Floyd like he did with Bertie Bassett then he has another thing coming. Floyd will do the old jab-feint-jab and eventually finish Vicious Vivienne with a right hand somewhere around the 8th round.

  23. No. I'm just smarter than all of you.

Floyd wouldn't come out of retirement and face Ortiz if the intention wasn't to fight Pac after that. Ortiz is the perfect warm up for Pac: young aggressive hard punching southpaw.

He came out of retirement and fought Marquez....What did he do afterwards? He hibernated for a while fought Mosley....afterwards? Hibernation/retirement again....now he is fighting Ortiz....IF THE pattern continue what will Mayweather do after the Ortiz fight....?? TAKE SOME TIME OFF be with his family....deal with his personal problems.....do other things other than boxing.......AKA more semi-retirement and hibernation.

Before he decided on Ortiz....they were talking about SPADAFORA.....SPADAFORA!!! But Mayweather and team are smart....Ortiz is more difficult but still a very, very WINNABLE fight...plus he picks up another TITLE...and can be successful event on PPV...MAYWEATHER vs. SPADAFORA was going to bomb on PPV...May vs. Ortiz aka mexican equal can't fail PPV numbers....

I think Mayweather vs. Ortiz wont do well on PPV

  26. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the Pac fight signed immediately after facing Marquez, then it fell through and then he went after Mosley? Isn't that what happened?

depends what your definition of "well" is? it will sell over seven figure homes minimum, and outsell pacquiao marquez III.

I mean i dont care either way. But ortiz isnt a PPV fighter. He isnt really known outside the boxing community. This will be a very clear test of Mayweather's current PPV draw

ortiz is mexican, marketable, exciting offensively and coming off a great victory. great opponent to sell pay per views against. he isnt as well known and liked as marquez but i can guarantee it will sell well.

You are probably right. I just feel like Ortiz isnt even liked by his fellow mexicans. But i could be wrong. We shall see.
