Seems to be a rather polarizing figure on these forums. So i wanted a poll to get some stats on who's on the Floyd Mayweather bandwagon and who thinks he's a coward, ducker, unproven fraud.

Your POLLS are SHIT as usual.

You got a black, and a white, and absolutely no grey. Come on.

Revise the poll and I will meet you half way.

That's EXACTLY why I didn't put a "grey". It was a deliberate move. The majority of the ignorant Mayweather hating motherfuckers around here would choose the pussy compromise option. No compromise. Make a stand. He's either a proven great talent or he's a fraud. Nowhere to hide motherfuckers!

He's one of my favourite boxers ever, no doubt. An absolute genius between the ropes.

He just also happens to be one of my least favourite human beings. I can certainly separate the two though.

Nah. Sorry. Can't go for it. Floyds a great fighter with old-school skills and a solid appetite for the game when he is in training.

I was a fan ten years ago. A lot about him used to excite me. His attitude was one of those things (remember his Joe Louis comment?), but that, sadly, was then. This is now, and he lost me some time ago, being honest.

Such a ridiculous poll, sly. There's no denying the guy's skills and talent, but I'm not a fan of his. I wouldn't call him an unproven fraud, a ducker, or even a coward, but he's definitely dragging this shit out.

Fuck, you're retarded sometimes. Just because someone has talent and ability, it doesn't mean you have to be a fan if they are a womanbeater, an immature asshole, or an insecure twat who surrounds themself with yes-men.

Well...the topic asks if you are a fan, to which I would say no. But there's no dismissing his ability. But then again I see him as a bit of a cherry picker since he left 135.

The poll sounds a bit slanted and a bit at odds with the topic. Bascially...you hate him and think he is a fraud or you love him and think he is awesome.

There is a middle ground that is not here...it is possible to recognize his skills, but not be a fan of his. That may be lost on some folks, but it really can happen. There have been plenty of great fighters over the years that I am not a fan of.

Hell.. there isn't a fighter I hated more than Ray Leonard during his heyday...but I've NEVER denied his greatness.

Sounds like Sly is trying to "prove" that only "haters" don't see Mayweather in the same light that he does.

Boxing forum...not Oprah Winfrey Show. I'm not referring to his antics out of THE RING. I'm talking about his career to date and his proven (or otherwise) greatness/talent.

I thought I made this clear, chump!

I'm a fan of Leonard inside the ring and hate him outside the ring. So I know what you mean.

    Let me clarify:

I'm referring to him as a fighter, nothing else. Has he proven that he's a great fighter or is he a fraud that ducks the best opposition and amassed an undefeated record the easy way..without proving anything?

The phrasing of the options is better, but it's still too constrained. There's a difference between saying he's a complete fraud who never proved anything and that he has been very selective of his opposition since leaving 135.

There's more to being a boxing fan than being a fanboy or a hater.

Apparently Shaefer is today saying Floyd has said he wants to start fighting 3, 4 times a year for the next few years and have 10 more fights.

I won't hold my breath but he could REALLY help the sport if he did this.

In other words, vote which selection you think is less wrong? To achieve what? It seems to me this is about your inability to intelligently defend PBF and so instead, you've constructed this bogus poll in an attempt to put words in people's mouth and to discredit PBF's critics.

He's too old for this. He has three more fights in him tops IMO.

I think he's proven he's a great fighter but not proven he's a great welterweight.

That'd be good, for sure. That would surely help him confront his fear of defeat, and possibly culminate in his having the sack to face his top challenge.

As it is, PBF comes out of retirement only when GBP has someone beatable, smaller and over-rated to serve up. Then he goes back to retirement....until the next anomalism comes along.

I disagree that it is a bogus poll, but I agree that my intention is to totally discredit the people that suggest that he's a fake that has ducked every challenenge and is only undefeated because of a soft record. "Fight Fans" on this forum feel clever when they say this stuff, let's see if they have the courage to vote on it.

It's simple: if you think Floyd is a fraud that ducks true challenges and, by implication, isn't a proven talent like his undefeated record and titles in 5 divisions suggests..then vote that he's a fraud that hasn't proven anything.

Alternatives are either to vote that he's a proven ATG talent or shut the fuck up.

Ortiz looked bigger than Berto to me. AND he's in his prime , young and hungry and has proven his abilities in being the first man to beat Berto. People can't claim he's old and wahed up and people can't claim that he's weak and small. Who else should he fight in warming up for Pacquiao?

By any normal standards Ortiz is a good opponent, but when you only fight once a year.... anything except Pac is flat out unsatisfactory.

After such inactivity and at his age, it would be foolhardy to fight Pacquiao without any warm up fight. Besides...Pacquiao is fighting Marquez next.

Then the foolhardy part was surely fighting 4 times in 4 years in the first place. And Pac blows too.

Fuck them both. The sport's basically in the phase of death where South Park characters shit all down their trousers.

Floyd the boxer is a quality operator, one of the best ever at the lower weights and a handful for anyone is history. But I'm no fan, because he is a complete and utter cockbag and his arrogant disregard for the sport over the last few years hugely tarnishes his early career achievements (which were many and extremely impressive)

JMM was a good warm up too. Last I checked he won more of the 24 rounds he fought with Pacquiao than lost. Plus he was coming off some impressive wins.

    However...

Ortiz is YOUNG and PRIME and just beat the undefeated Berto in an exciting slugfest. He's also powerful, fast and a southpaw.

    Great warmup.

So far, he's the only fighter who has no problem fighting under the USADA testing protocol,.. and his training sessions are awesome, he busts every muscle in his body to get himself into the tireless condition he demonstrates in the ring,.. and yes his talents are obvious, he's a very fast accurate puncher and an all round excellent athlete.

...it's his defence I've got a problem with, some aspects of it are not legal, and it frustrates me given he has never displayed anything resembling a glass chin before,..so it would be nice if he put his punches together more often and tries to finish off his opponents.

Personality wise,.. he's a very distant second to Bernard Hopkins as being the scum of boxing,.. yet Hopkins has a rather strange immunity that Floyd nor any other fighter is able to enjoy.

When the Bell RINGS & the Fight STARTS, REED is Definitely a FAN of Floyd Mayweather...Aside from that, Not Sooooo Much...

REED USED to B a HUGE Fan, but THE WAY Dude Carries Himself as Sloooooowly Worn REED's Fandom AWAY...Floyd's Complete DISREGARD for the Very Sport that MADE him who he Is, the FACT that he TRUELY Believes the Sport of Boxing NEEDS him, the WAY he Continues to Cavalierly DISMISS the BIGGEST Fight in the Sport's History (While PUBLICLY Making Racial Statements Towards Pacquiao), & the Whole "Money May" Image Have Conspired to Turn REED OFF, in Regards to Floyd Mayweather...

Floyd Should Aspire to Leave the Sport in a BETTER State than it was when he Entered it...Instead, he's Doing the OPPOSITE; "Retiring" After Every Other Fight, Sitting Out MORE than a Full Year @ a Time, Defiantly Declaring, "I'm NOT Even Thinking about Boxing Right Now" & Straight Up TEASING Fight Fans w/the Pacquiao...

REED Doesn't & Could Never HATE Floyd, but he's Mostly INDIFFERENT about him Now, which is a DOWNGRADE from How REED Used to Feel about Him...
