Let's match Ortiz with another Rican, how about a prime Trinidad

They are not people...they are Floyd Mayweather nuthuggers...For a while i thought they were talking about a PRIME Cotto....but they are not....Cotto today probably can't make 147 without at least amputating one arm..so they might be right....but if he can make 147 with no problem he still fucks Ortiz up...

I think Shane is the most overrated fighter of my entire lifetime, but he was clearly better than Berto even at that stage... FUCKING CLEARLY

pretty much, who would have expected it :::wack::wack::wack: Cotto beats up Ortiz in a exciting fight but Cotto is just much more technically sound and, more important, much more tougher mentally and that carries him to the win

Ortiz would stand no chance against Cotto at welterweight really, no realistic chance anyway.

Ortiz is a quick, fierce, and fairly skilled fighter in the first half of the fight. Bur he is NOT a finisher.

If he was a finisher, he would have 3 stoppage wins over Maidana, Peterdude and Berto.

He would do well against Cotto early, but Cotto is too composed, skilled, and experienced to lose to Ortiz. Cotto would give him a beating and stop him late.

Before the fight no one would have picked him to beat Cotto at WW, and the Berto fight shouldn't do much to change that.

I've ALWAYS liked Ortiz, and said before the Berto fight if he can keep it together mentally he should win clearly. Berto simply isn't very good.

Being undefeated doesn't make you better.

  10. Agreed.

But Berto wasn't just undefeated. He was undefeated for long enough to hold a belt and defend it a few times, and was young and prime. Shane wasn't just 4 times defeated. He was dominated at least twice and was getting on in years.

Um, that's because he hadn't fought anyone, literally.

After initially liking Berto, I got completely turned off him because of how pathetic he was in his reluctance to face a good, legit welterweight.

The first good fighter he fought (in his first fight at WW no less) gave him a beating.

Berto is average at world level, and a pathetic excuse for a "champ".

i am talking about reality. not mythology. if they fight in may 2012 cotto gets knocked out brutally.

Well in reality we could also say that Chad Dawson would brutally knock out the 2010-2011 Roy Jones.

Both at thier bests.... Victoria would get hammered by Cotto. Lets not overrate Ortiz off of the Berto fight.

Berto wouldnt have seen the final bell with an anything close to best version of Cotto.

Thats not to say that I would pick Cotto over your boy Floyd. For the record.... even a prime Cotto would have gotten his ass kicked by Floyd.

But even at THIS point..... I wouldnt pick Ortiz over Cotto with much certainty. In fact, I'd call it a pick em at this point.

in reality ortiz just moved to welterweight. a fight at welterweight next year ends with cotto on his back. if we are talking a younger cotto at 140lbs then
he should be favored, but Im quite sure he'd be hurt in that bout and on the canvas early on at some point based on how he did against less talented and less powerful men like corley and torres.

Corley and Torres were at 140. At Junior Welter I could see Ortiz putting Cotto in SERIOUS trouble..... but Miggy still losing in the end.

However if we're talking about a prime WELTERWEIGHT Cotto..... like the one that battered Quintana.... I dont give Ortiz much of a chance.
