I'm not talking strictly shit talking I'm talking about boxers who did their best to get people interested in buying their fights. Examples would be:

    Ali
    Mayorga
    Hamed

    List more

  2. Irish

Kevin Kelley. I saw him outside of MSG when I was a messenger in Manhattan before the Hamed fight. I asked was he going to represent and he said yeah. I told him not to do it on his back and we laughed it off!

Haye is an obvious recent example. He orchestrated his fame & payday quite well, cashed out against Klitschko, & that will be all we hear from him. I feel sorry for a lot of people. Those who bought the hype, namely so many of his countrymen, & Klitschko, as well.

  6. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

My problem is also with Wlad in that he didn't bite as much as he barked pre-fight. He let Haye off the hook completely. No real fire in his belly to destroy Haye. That HBO face to face thing they did was purely hype. Wouldn't surprise me if Wlad and Haye were high-fiving and sh*t after cameras stopped rolling after those promos they filmed. They knew they sold this fight to the public and it was a complete farce really.

Haye was somewhat a wildcard, but no one should ever watch Wlad & expect much. We knew going in what he does so often.

Hes still one of the victims here, to an extent.

    Sorry? Why is that spam?

    1. Haye came to lose.

    2. Klitschko "believed the hype"

#1 is a supposition at best.

    #2 is simply erroneous.

I only have to watch the fight to know Haye came to lose (or very near to it), thanks.

I clearly said I felt for Klitschko for a reason separate to, "believing the hype." Thats not what I said.

Yes, thats right up there with other precatory guff such as "borderline racist", "almost a virgin" and "I leave everything to my wife except......"

He very nearly came to lose. I wonder if I could have gotten odds on that.

Haye to very nearly come to lose: 12/1 on.
Haye to very nearly come to lose and then have a change of heart: 9/4

On construction I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

My interpretation was that you said Klitschko had believed the hype.

  14. Ali is number 1.

    Eubank is up there.

  15. Mayorga is up there with his drinking and smoking gimmicks.

The voices tell me Haye lost and that the Gods of Canada are angry with him. Do they lie to me??:cheer:

Tyson Fury is a relentless self-promoter with a better sense of humour and a faster wit than Eubank. I don't think Eubank self-promoted in fact his behaviour in the run up to Benn was anything other than self-promoting, not only did people want Benn to win, they thought he would win. Eubank was an attention-seeker I'm not sure that thats the same as self-promotion.

You really wanted that one, eh? Were really hoping we'd all have egg on our mugs after Haye lost, weren't you?

Yes. Your reputation on these fora is of significance to me. :dunno:

I'm curious, as a boxing journalist, can you explain the sheer plethora of "Wlad" threads that sprouted up post-Haye???

They seemed strangely lacking post-Chagaev and post-Peter.

Anyways this is someone elses thread, I digress.
