Sly is the biggest proponent of "Fighter A beats Fighter B, Fighter B beats Fighter C, therefore Fighter A beats Fighter C" I have ever talked to in my whole life... but he is THE FIRST GUY to come out with "that's a fallacy" when it doesn't apply neatly to the guy he is shilling about, LOL

fucking classic stuff, been a staple of his for as long as I've known him

Wait...how could that be when all I ever do is wait for you to post something and then I either post exactly what you said it or just agree with it??

Another of Sly's BS theories down the drain...

    LOL, I love that crap

Sly was at secondsout with both of us

When I started posting there (TEN years ago, jesus) I had all kinds of grand, stupid notions about the sport... I knew some stuff, more than most guys my age, but I said shit that was utterly INCORRECT... you were already a fully-formed adult poster compared to where I was

I learned a lot from guys like yourself, Sovereign (what a great, great poster he was) , Donnybrook (ditto), Jake and some other cats who aren't around anymore whose names have unfortunately been forgotten ...

The idea that you are biting off of what I say is beyond preposterous

Christ, I know about 5000 times more about boxing now than I did then!

Yeah, but styles has everything to do with the point he just made, and his point sticks. I don't know what you were trying to say but the fact is if JMM defeats Pacquiao that does not let Floyd off the hook for never having fought him.

Just like Floyd doesn't get let off the hook for never having fought Clottey, Williams, Cotto, and Margarito, you know only the top welters who were inhabiting his division when he was supposedly the so called ruler of that division. Floyd may not have to answer for those fights now, but he will always have it over his head when his greatness is called into question.

And style have nothing to do with why one guy might do better against the same opponent? Ok, sure bud. Keep living in dream land.

Yeah but Floyd beat Mosley which exonerates him from fighting those guys.

    Mosley beat Margarito
    Margarito beat Cotto
    Margarito and Cotto beat Clottey
    Williams beat Margarito

The only monkey wrench is Cotto beating Mosley but Cotto was KO'd by a guy Shane KO'd so that gives Floyd a pass.

All this means Floyd beats all those guys...thus goes the logic of FloydIdiots.

Styles have nothing to do with the idea advanced by many that JMM was ineffective due to his weight. If JMM is effective against Pacquiao in spite of the weight, that means that he can't have been ineffective against Floyd due to the weight.

This is fairly basic logic. I'm guessing you guys did really poorly on your SATs.

And every great fighter has lost to other great fighters. And generally nobody makes the excuse that the other great fighter "just had his number."

Point being that when you're discussing Marquez and Pacquiao, you're discussing two great fighters. Not one great fighter and a spoiler.

Funny enough...this wasn't me intention when creating the thread. I didn't even consider the Floyd angle for even a second. Just speaking specifically about Marquez and Pacquiao's legacies as there has been interesting discussion recently on Marquez' place in history in particular.

marquez beats pacquiao at 147, hypothetically

    mayweather beat marquez

    therefore mayweather>pacquiao

losses are still part of the equation

as I've said before, anybody that thinks Marquez is in Chavez territory either doesn't recall Chavez or didn't pay particularly close attention to Marquez prior to Pacquiao

A man must be given the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

This thread had NATHAN (Copywright REEDsART) to do with Mayweather.

Was sincerely curious as to how people would view the legacies of both fighters (Pac and JMM) should JMM upset the status quo.

I think he's better than Chavez.

If he beat Pacquiao he would be unquestionably the best Mexican fighter ever.

What is Chavez's best win again?
