Alistair Overeem has made the staggering revelation that he may quit MMA after the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, in order to fight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko.

Overeem is the reigning Strikeforce heavyweight king, and he is heading for a semi-final in the Grand Prix against Antonio Silva. If he wins the entire tournament, he is expected to be chased by the UFC to take on the likes of Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez in what would be deemed 'super-fights'.

However, Overeem may have other ideas. Having extended his unbeaten streak to 10 fights, it seems the K-1 World Grand Prix champion may take his kickboxing background and apply it to boxing.

Either Reed is absolutely correct or Overeem is delusional.

    Seriously, Werdum practically out-boxed him.

MMA guys don't have the balls to fight elite boxers in boxing.

    Corrected....

Balls has nothing to do with it. They don't have the skill to fight elite boxers. Nor do elite boxers have the skill to fight MMA. It has nothing to do with being brave.

In either sport, a fighter can pull a Bruce Seldon and the fight is over. Nothing remotely scary about it.

The real pussy is the elite boxer that is afraid to fight another elite boxer (i.e. Floyd Mayweather). That is the epitome of not have the balls to do something.

Overeem has been booted from the GP. Daniel Cormier is the replacement. No word on why or what will happen, but he seems to be out of the GP.

Balls has a lot to do with it. Boxing is a lot tougher than MMA. Mayweather has been fighting top competition since the 90's. Calling an elite p4p boxer a pussy is ignorant on so many levels considering how tough you have to be to make it in pro boxing. Boxing is much more dangerous than MMgay.

    Neither are particularly dangerous.

As I said, as soon as a boxer can't take a flop to save his ass, then we can call it dangerous. But as long as the "Seldon-out" is available, there is nothing that makes boxing any more or less dangerous than other combat sports. And the same is true with MMA.

Mayweather has done a better job of AVOIDING top competition as of late. He is scared shitless to step in the ring with Manny. Personally I never lean toward calling any combat sport participant a "pussy". But since you questioned the 'Balls' of MMA fighters, I just suggested you check the balls on Floyd. Keep in mind you might have to push his over-sized labia to the side to find his balls. Just saying.

By the way, how tough do you have to be to make it in pro boxing? Do you need to be as tough as former HW Champion Bruce Seldon or former title challenger Marvis Frazier or famed ring-diver Kermit Cintron or master fight avoider and multiple time retiree Floyd Mayweather.

Again, personally I agree that the toughest boxers are among the toughest guys to ever walk the face of the earth. But boxing has it share of pussies just like MMA. Simply participating in either sport neither automatically qualifies you as tough nor as a pussy.

But it is funny that a Jones and Mayweather nuthugger would EVER enter into a debate about guts and toughness. The list of guys the two of them AVOIDED rivals any elite fighters in the history of boxing. Yes, balls on display.

Why does Rjjp4p post in the MMA forum if he hates it so much? I don't get it. You certainly wouldn't find me in a forum about a sport I hate.

Yes, calling it MMGay pretty much sums it up for me.

And threatened is the best word.

It's funny, I have been a huge boxing fan for almost 40 years and MMA can peacefully coexist in my world without an issue. It has not dulled my enjoyment of good boxing one bit.

Exactly, I have love for both sports and that will never change nor does it make me less of a boxing fan because I also enjoy MMA.

If you don't like it, don't fucking watch it and don't come into a forum dedicated to it and bitch and cry.

Absolutely. Gayge fighting is all up on boxings turf, (Saturday night fight sport)... and people like that stupid shit.

I have never hid from the fact that I think gayge fighting is nothing but bad news for boxing.

Well Overeem is both kickboxing K-1 champion AND strikeforce MMA champion. That is a great achievement already. He won K-1 mostly by boxing. He is big and powerfull and rushes forward all the time. The fight against Vitaly would be very entertaining.
