The pressure Margarito Brings will push Cotto to the limits again. Team Cotto has to find a way to rip Margarito's body or else this will be a repeat of the first fight.

  3. Margarito vs Pacquiao reminds me of a quote from Rocky 2

"I saw you beat that man like I've never seen any man get beat before and the man kept coming after you! Now we don't need that kinda man in our lives."

The beating that pacquiao put on Margarito should have killed him. Margarito just kept on coming an coming and trying to win the fight. People hate on that man for the handwraps issue...but that fight gave me some love for him. Serious warrior!

Cotto CANNOT handle that type of pressure. Cotto will be discouraged when he hits Margarito with everything and the mexican just keeps trying to knock him out. Margarito KNOWS that he can KO Cotto and so with that self belief in him he wont stop trying.

It will most likely be...Cotto's last fight!

I agree with Hex and Sly. But I can't tell you how much i hope Cotto wins this fight. Almost more than any fight I can think of...

margarito took some serious whuppings from mosley and pac. but then again, cotto's not the same guy either. it should be intense as long as it lasts.

Yes Margarito bring a lot of pressure.....but if he did have special wraps that night vs. Cotto....then the punches he hit Cotto with on December 3 won't have the same effect...and Cotto should be able to hand on for a decision victory....or he might be able to finally go to the body...and hurt Margarito...

This is my thinking. Theres every chance Margarito was hitting him with BS wraps & if he was, suddenly Margaritos pressure isnt the factor we thought it was.

We dont truly know, though, & now neither man is what they were three years ago anyway. To me, I really feel I have no idea how this ends up.

    The Genius DEMONRY!!

I certainly know who I'd LIKE to win but I'm unsure of a result here. Both men have taken brutal beatings in recent years. It may come down to who has more left in the tank.

I agree. He took a SERIOUS beating and just kept coming forward. Cotto is in big trouble if he cant stop Margarito. The body attack is the KEY IMO.

What if Margarito really was loaded though, as most of us suspect? Cotto still made it within just minutes of the finish line.

That doesnt take into account their diminished states now, mind. Margarito looked mighty tough with Pacquiao, but he has taken lasting punishment & may not be able to duplicate that, while Cotto is also weakened. I really cant say with faith.

Even without magic wraps, Plasterito's sheer relentless pressure and toughness is obviously a big problem for Cotto.

But after seeing the savage beating he took from Pacquiao, I don't know, I'm picking Cotto.

Surely Cotto would have won the first fight by decision if Margarito's hands weren't loaded?

I think some of you guyr are under-estimating just what a difference those wraps couldve made.

If he really was loaded, guaranteed Margaritos pressure isnt nearly the issue you think it is for Cotto.

    I think so too.

Yes I think he would have done.

    Cotto by decision.

Yet another factor to think over...Margarito would appear better-suited to JMW than Cotto.

  17. Another thing to consider:

    Cotto is fragile.

Since the wrap issue Margarito has yet to prove he can beat a good fighter. There is no shame in losing to Manny but I think the Mosley loss is a little more telling. Margarito just isn't a damaging puncher without plaster wraps. His punches without wraps did not dissuade Manny or Shane in the least nor was he able to stop Garcia in between.

Meanwhile Cotto has improved somewhat despite taking more punches than he should have against Mayorga. He looked very sold against Foreman and used much better footwork than I've seen from him the past.

My thought is that Cotto wins a relatively wide decision if Margarito's punches aren't plaster aided. The cheater's shots won't have near the wilting, punishing effect and Cotto will remain the better boxer for the ENTIRE fight this time.

I think Cotto takes a decision here.

Margarito is not the same without his wraps and he's taken 2 bad beatings. Cotto may not be the same either but he hasn't taken as much as Margarito has lately and Phony's punches aren't likely to have the same effect they did in their first fight now that he'll be properly wrapped.

That may be a big factor. Miguel Still needs to rip the body shots to slow down the pressure. I don't know who to pick here. Cotto didnt look good at times against Mayorga. I thought he took too many punches. Many questions will be answered fight night for sure.

It wasn't long ago at all that Margarito was on the cusp of retirement from his Pacquiao-induced beating. That, plus the shock thumping Mosley dished out (I think a little of that may've owed to Margarito being weight-drained, perhaps) won't have helped him into being the most durable figure, or even as durable as he's been in the past, come time to face Cotto, either.

Was only just prior to the Mosley fight people were saying no one south of 160lbs. could put a dent in Margarito's chin...now look at what's left.

I think he would have, but I don't think he's been the same since he took a plaster-wrap beating. So it's tough to make a call based on that.

Then again, Margarito is clearly diminished as well..

Since the Cotto fight Margarito has been inactive and has taken 2 long beatings. Cotto will fuck him up.

I think cotto can win this.

  25. I'd argue that Mayorga was FAR more damaged (hellacious beatings from Oscar, Trinidad, Shane) and shot than Margarito is, and Mayorga gave Cotto hell before practically quitting.

    Margarito will RUIN Cotto.

2 doctors told Margarito to quit the sport because of his eye. He probably shouldn't be fighting anymore. That tells me all i need to know about this match up.

    Really?

If by hell you mean winning 2-3 round at the most....then yes Mayorga was satan...

  29. Cotto was having difficulty. No doubt about it.

What..Cotto dominated like De La Hoya did? Ricans!
