don't be silly. all combat sports have physical risk involved especially when your intentions are to be competitive. like i said, even if you want to take a bruce seldon'esque approach, you kinda have to have gone through enough to place yourself in a position to cashout.

i guess it's not 'dangerous' if your making your amateur or pro debut and decide in the first few seconds that you're gonna lay down.

Joony--You and I agree on this almost 100%. But keep in mind, this is all in response to RJJ's claim that MMA fighters don't have the "balls" to step in the ring with elite boxers.

So with that as the basis for the discussion, any MMA fighter could step into a boxing ring for the first time with the most dangerous boxer alive and not be in any real danger. At the first sign of punishment, they can simply go Bruce Seldon.

lol I'd like to see how not dangerous boxing or MMA is to TLC after I spar with him and break his jaw with the first flush hook I land.

Not dangerous at all if he falls down from the first breeze and quits.

It's on at the same time as boxing, is a Pay Per View fighting sport like boxing.

And people like MMA more than they like boxing these days.

Personally I've been more entertained by boxing overall this year. There have been some stinkers on both sides but boxing has been on it's 'A' game and provided some good match-ups so far this year. Meanwhile, injuries have limited several MMA cards.

    But I see your point.

Threatened by what? Boxing is much more popular worldwide. Worldwide how many promotions are doing good? Most are going out of business.

What is that based on? MMA promotions are folding or getting bought out left and right. Don King and Arum have been promoting for years.

MMA is very popular world wide. More popular than it is here in the states.

Not all the time. Dana avoids most of the big fight dates. And just because it's a combat sport doesn't make it that similar.

Do you actually put effort in to being this ridiculous?

Honestly, even the most avid hater of MMA realizes that the popularity of MMA has been one of the fastest growing while boxing has declined.

Even in Vegas, where boxing once reigned supreme, the new bully in town is MMA specifically the UFC.

And just out of curiosity, what are all the MMA promotions going out of business. You said "most are going out of business". I can name the 4 most popular current promotions world wide and none are "out of business". How about you, can you list the "most" that are going out of business.

Seriously, it's like someone occasionally parks the short yellow bus in front of this forum... Damn.

Not to mention DK shut down Shine promotions

5 Million is MMA's highest grossing gate in Nevada. Boxings is 18 million. I am really threatened.

The UFC hosts approx. 18-20 events a year between their PPV events/fight nights/and reality show. How many good boxing events are hosted per year that reach million dollar revenue levels?<!-- /comment-entry --><!-- /comment-right --><!-- /.comment-container -->

Didn't Pride sell for like $70 million to Zuffa? And Cage Rage was owned by Elite XC...

So actually you named 2 promotions that 'went out of business'.. Does that equal "MOST"?

    No, but thanks for playing...

    So simple.

Get real.. The UFC has held more than average of 1.3 events per month over the last 2 years. They've had 2-3 million dollar gates in 6 countries over the same period. And they've had 3-5 million dollar gates at separate events in 4 different countries over the same period.

No one gives a shit about Holyfield-Lewis. We're talking about growth of the sport. And in that regard, there isn't even a freaking remote comparison. Boxing is not growing. It is declining.

Meanwhile the UFC is about a month away from a multi million dollar live gate sell out in YET another country when they hold UFC 134 from Brazil on August 27th.

Yeah, there's a comparison between the growth of the sports... My ass.

Thanks... So RJJ's new math is 1 equals MOST....

    Write it down folks.
