um yeah there is a big difference between taking a leg kick and taking a punch to the chin. Are you serious?

Taking leg kicks over and over actually destroy your never endings in your shin. Hardining the muscles. Punches to the face crack your chin over time. By logic, someone older and that has been fighting for 15 years should have a stronger chin than someone only fighting as a pro for 1 year.

There are guys in MMA that have chins stronger than 90% of boxers. I have seen people take flush shots to the face with a KICK that havent gone down. A kick is much harder than a punch.

Striking with boxing Gloves is different than striking with MMA gloves. Striking in MMA is different than boxing in General. Nobody is saying that boxers arent better PUNCHERS. But that has nothing to do with being able to take a shot.

I agree that MMA fighters are tough as nails and that the strikes, especially with smaller gloves, not to mention elbow strikes, kicks, etc are more deadly than what we see in boxing.

I certainly didn't say that. I said, BOXERS can't be successful in MMA.

Wrestlers are clearly extremely superior to boxers.

King Mo was taking leg kicks in a half year of training better than guys who kickboxed all their life.

It has to do with the person, not the sport they do...and really only an idiot who leaves in mythical supermen would believe otherwise.

The hilarious thing is these guys are deluded enough to thing that their supermen boxers are so vastly superior to these guys that have been doing say...Muay Thai all of their lives, and when said Muay Thai fighter knees and or kicks someone in the head and they take it, it's just because he doesn't hit has hard as a boxer. :giggle:

No, shitty chins are exclusive to MMA fighter. It's what sport you do that dictates how good your chin is. Proven science, don't hate.

The ones who were ignorant were the ones parading about Lesnar being the baddest man on the planet just because he took a few Carwin shots and survived, despite getting his ass handed to him for much of the fight.
Also the ones who are doubly ignorant are the ones who felt that since Carwin couldn't stop Lesnar with his punches then that automatically meant Velasquez had no chance.
You all know who you are. Don't try to hide it now...:nono:

I thoght Brock would beat Cain, Carwin had nothing to do with it though. I just thought he would be able to hold Cain down and pound on him.

I do remember that. "Pillow fisted Cain would never stop Lesnar...Lesnar is the better wrestler"

That was easier money than this up coming fight with Cain-JDS.

I did call Cain pillow fisted, I will admit it.

He is pillow fisted, but remember, as soon as the other guy stepped into the octagon, he was officially an MMA fighter, and therefore had a shit chin.

And shit defense, and shit punching technique don't forget :p

Anyway, you chodes are making me sound like an MMA hater, and that's not even close to being true.

You just need to get a clue and realise that MMA fighters aren't even CLOSE to boxers in regards to throwing punches and taking punches. That shouldn't really need explaining.

  29. Trplsec

    Trplsec Sleeps in a Cage

I'll agree with you when it comes to "taking punches" because that involves technical things like tucking your chin, rolling with shots, moving away from opponents power, etc which are all technical points that MMA fighters typically suck at.

But the idea that a fighter can physically improve his CHIN by taking more shots in sparring is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

And who is the moron that compared improving your chin to leg kicks? Seriously? With all the combat sport geniuses on this site and only Godfather understands the physiological reasons behind improved ability to absorb leg kicks?

LOL..... And that's a biological fact. It's not some hero-worshiping myth about boxers being the remaining super athletes from generations of culling the sporting herds. Read up on cortical remodeling and let me know how that can apply to a boxer's chin.

Man, this place is too much sometimes.

  30. TLC

    TLC "Twinkle Toes" McJack

It's not even that simple. There isn't that much difference between a good chin and thick legs.

King Mo like a pointed out, less than a year into training could take leg kicks like they were nothing. A guy like Cory Hill? Not so much. A guy like Yushin Okami has been in MMA for a while too and takes leg kicks pretty poorly as does Rampage. It's all about biology.
