Margarito just vindicated the generation of Trinidad, DLH, Shane, Quartey, etc... Cotto would get KTFO by every one of them.
Its not really a knock on Cotto, cause Marg & Williams also would have lost to those 4 guys in thier primes. I could see Cotto being competitive with prime DLH & Shane(though he loses to both). Quartey would have been too strong, and woulda walked him down and beat the hell outta him. Cotto vs the welter Tito would've been legalized murder.
not sure. cotto vs. quartey is a pick'em. oscar barely beats cotto on points and that's a maybe. just because margarito smashed cotto doesnt mean cotto automatically gets 'KTFO'ed by tito, oscar or quartey. why not give margarito some fucking credit? tito and oscar were not that fucking great.

i guess i'm in the minority who doesnt think oscar is great. i think of him as a well promoted and managed version of a say..carlos palomino. how could you say he's great when you say guy like mosley sucks and that tito was a fraud?
He wasn't great. He was pretty good and if he doesn't have a great level of opposition no one does. His resume speaks for itself. Oscar was easily more accomplished then both of them. Again, Oscar fought the one guy that was clearly the other champion that Tito never did, quartey. Oscar has one of the best levels of opposition ever, well managed, . I am not an Oscar fan, but you aren't even thinking on this issue.
you're not making any sense. so it's ignorant to say that oscar was not that great, yet you're the guy saying he wasn't great, but was pretty good. which is it? are you sure you're not drugs? beating an old whitaker in a track race was hardly impressive. i thought he lost that fight anyhow, but that's a separate argument for another day (or never since there have been threads about that issue). yea, oscar has a great resume. he has balls for fighting the guys he did, but he's also a great opportunist who tried to gain technical advantages as much as he could.
It is a message board Joony. It is hard to be precise with words especially when to me oscar was a great-light. Oscar was one of the best fighters of his era. Now, do I think Oscar would have beaten Tommy Hearns or SRL nota chance. What is more, I don't think he'd be competetive. I really think there can't be any criticism of Oscar's overall resume. If you can name many fighters with a better one ; I'd love to read it.
Theres NO version ever of Oscar that would stop Marg in 6 rounds! No way! Plus Mayorga had already been ruined by Tito by time he fought Oscar. I could see a prime DLH beating Marg by decision, but no stoppage.
