Would be a pretty awesome Asian battle.

Donaire wins, no question, but Nishioka could give a good fight.

From what I've seen, Nishioka gets hit too much for Donaire... He has tremendous power in that left hand of his but he doesn't appear to me to be defensively sound enough to survive the incoming... Donaire is badass... When he punches, he looks like Sugar Ray Robinson and Alexis Arguello had a butt baby together... Really special to watch... I just can't see the Japanese not repeatedly getting tagged against him

How do you guys think Donaire would do if he were to move up and fight Gamboa?

I agree about Nishiokas defence, he recently fought a guy from the UK called Rendall Munroe who is a good honest pro but nothing out of the ordinary. Munroe had a bit of success in the early rounds and was able to get through before Nishiokas speed took over and he ended up taking a shellacking. Donaire is in a different stratosphere to Munroe obviously so I see him doing some real damage when he gets through. It will be very interesting to see how Donaire deals with Nishiokas speed however if that fight happens.

With regards to Gamboa, what a fight that would be! It's hard to say as Nonito hasn't fought that high up before but if he handles the weight ok I'd pick Nonito, he looks a special fighter. Gamboa is clearly very good but he's shown vulnerabilities that Donaire hasn't thus far.

That's how I feel too, Slice... Gamboa has marvelous hand speed and the sort of Arrogant confidence in it that the best fighters have but Donaire looks like Greatness, like the rare fighters look... When you are dealing with little guys like him, sometimes a mere 4 pounds can be a bridge too far but I'd still love to see him try eventually

    No doubt Hutster

I like Marquez but I'm hoping Nishioka wins just because Nishioka-Donaire is a fight I've wanted to see for a while

true, but at least he exists right now, or else there'd be very little worth watching

It's weird, I see him as being kind of inactive, but that's not particularly true.

Only in 2008 was he inactive, with only 1 fight.

In 2007 he fought 3 times including Vic.

in 2009 he fought twice, and in 2010 he fought 3 times.

I guess it's because none of the fights seemed like a potential challenge at all (apart from Montiel), or were a challenge at all, so they seem kind of insignificant.

It's pretty remarkable when you consider that even Montiel, certainly a quality pro, was made to look fairly ordinary

montiel was an excellent win, but gamboa is a completely different animal. if donaire goes up there and beats him that is truly some impressive shit.

certainly, it would be a major achievement... Gamboa is naturally bigger, he has exceedingly dangerous hands, he's a serious obstacle
