What's next for Dan Henderson?

The fight with Fedor last night was the last on Dan's Strikeforce contract. As the reigning Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, Henderson will have some decisions to make.

Henderson seems aware that his remaining lifespan in MMA only includes a few more fights. He has indicated his goal is to fight in meaningful bouts.

With that as the backdrop, where does Henderson go from here? Does he resign with Strikeforce and potentially defend his belt against Mousasi? Does he look for a shot at the HW Tournament winner in Strikeforce? Does he bounce back down to 185 to challenge Jacare for yet another belt?

Or does Zuffa pull him back into the UFC mix and a potential rematch with Silva or a title fight at 205 with the Jones-Rampage winner? Or how crazy is a fight against the Cain-JDS winner?

    What do you think?

he should aim for the heavyweight belt in strikeforce. if not, then go back to UFC and try to land a shot vs. jones assuming he'd still be champ by then.

Go the the UFC and fight Jon Jones if he is granted a shot right away. Or, beat up on the B- level SF LHW division more.

What he should NOT do is fight at 185. He's too old, and he's looked good at 205.

Funny, but I'd Favor Dan over any of the guys remaining in the tournament. I think Barnett and Cormier could put Dan on his back which could be trouble, but they might pay dearly trying to get him there.

I know this is kind of a gag post but it kind of does to be honest.

it also enhances jake shields' legacy thus also enhancing GSP's as well.

    you're crazy bro

He wouldn't beat any of the guys left (except mayver cormier, as i know nothing about him). In fact I wouldn't make him a favorite over any of the starters in the tournament.

Well, I guess I just don't have nearly as high an opinion of Bigfoot, Kharitonov or Barnett as you do.

Personally I see Henderson being able to keep it standing with Big Foot and Kharitonov which makes Dan a very live opponent. In fact, I think Dan's hands and hand speed might make Bigfoot look slower and more clumsy than normal.

With Kharitonov, it would just be a slugfest and I'll take Henderson's chin and punching power in that match up.

Barnett has the chin and grappling to easily do what Shields did to Henderson but Barnett has been known to take punishment trying to get take downs and Henderson could make it interesting.

I don't think ANY of those left in the tournament are easy picks against Henderson. They just aren't very good fighters in my opinion.

i'd pick barnett over henderson. not sure about cormier, but he's a world class wrestler who can take henderson down and do so rather easily. i can see henderson beating silva and kharitonov though.

Barnett would beat Hendo. The size difference would be huge, Barnett has very good wrestling and a good chin. Bad match for Hendo.

    BOSS TBD

Dan should get 2 more wins in strikeforce (namely King Mo and Moussasi) meanwhile that will allow Jon Jones to beat Rampage and Rashad and establish himself even more and then come over for a super fight.
