What are your favorite druglord movies ? I thought Blow was pretty good, and Scarface is one of my favorites of all time, I have seen it at least 10 times and still enjoy watching it. Theres something about these movies I like, especially the middle parts when the cash is rolling in, times are good, and before the wife/bitch turns into a total crackhead and ruins everything. What other druglord movies are worth checking out ? Im looking for suggestions.
Blow because of the scene with them counting those piles of cash :: Scarface is fun too. Too bad that films about Pablo Escobar sucks.
"New Jack City" and "Sugar Hill".............both with Snipes "Carlitos Way" "American Gangster" was ok, but not great. Can't think of many others off the top of my head that haven't been mentioned already. Lots of gangster movies where drugs are an important aspect, but not necessarily "Drug Lord" movies.
I really didn't like American Gangster, just seemed way to un-authentic, the story and characters got pushed too hard. New Jack was a really good movie, not sure if I've seen Sugar Hill might have to check it out.
Rewatch this yesterday.....very good and underated. A few already mention, Scar, Carlito, American G New Jack....didn't care for BLOW.... KING OF NEW YORK...i thought it had great potential could have been a classic, but they made it too straight and simple....still had some great moment....and quotes..
New Jack City was my favourite. Despite Ice T's horrendous acting, it was a very good film (mainly due to Wesley Snipes).
Agreed. The moving "Killing Pablo" has been listed as "in production" seemingly forever. Javier Bardem was supposed to be playing the part of Escobar but I read he dropped out. I don't even know if anything has actually been filmed or if it ever will be done.
"Traffic" forgot about that one. Not necessarily a "drug lord" movie in the sense of the others mentioned, but fairly close to it.
The end of Goodfellas really captured the paranoia and mental dysfunction that some experience from drug use. The part where he keeps looking everywhere is reall well-acted.
