The three amigos, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, & the best one of the bunch by streets, Marquez :: 12-rounders at Feather. These are some interesting fights, here. I'd especially pay to see Barrera's hot-headed reactions to Pedroza's in-ring filth ::
In any fight post 1990, Pedroza would be dq'd terry norris style for his rampant fouling in all 3 fights. If it was just on how the fight would go in the ring, Barrera would be pummeled, and Marquez and Morales would be win, albet in very different fashions. Fighting a firefight with Morales when you have questionable legal offense is not a good idea.
Barrera getting pummelled makes no sense to me Speed was his Waterloo And I think his tit-for-tat mindset regarding fouls is actually ideal for fighting Pedroza, MAB seemed to feed off of things like that, get more focused on what he was doing, motivated... I also like his jab as a counter to Pedroza's own... I prefer his chances to Morales' Morales, to me, would be more apt to LOSE CONCENTRATION from Pedroza's tactics, more likely to lose his head and start trying to kill Pedroza... of the three, I like his chances the least Marquez, the smooth and determined mechanic, gives Pedroza absolute fits... He'd be a mess from all of the punishment (legal and otherwise) , but he'd also be doing some brilliant things in there... that one is a nap and tuck, apples and oranges fight... I think you'd have some guys with Marquez ahead by 6 points and then others just as vehemently insisting that Pedroza was way ahead and had in fact kicked JMM's ass... You could seriously spend a month arguing over which of these three was the best fighter, but for this particular matchup, I am most confident in MAB's chance of beating the great, aloof, often unlikeable champ
I cant see Barrera getting pummeled, either --- how that adds up is beyond me. I see a very close fight --- maybe the closest of the three.
same here, Barrera has been turned into some distant number three in people's eyes because of the Pac-Man fights... this is of course, ridiculous, as his two wins over Morales would seem to make clear He was way far gone when he fought Marquez and he still gave him a good fight, as well... he's become underrated, which is amazing considering how respected he was in the years following the superb handcuffing of Hamed
I agree, somewhat, because he began to neglect dancing with the girl who had brought him to the dance-- a lady by the name of aggressive bodypunching Barrera became too tactical for his own good And eventually, when he needed to respond with the old fire, against a hurricane in Pacquaio, he was unable to do so... not to say that he would have been able to beat him necessarily, but it would not have been so decisive and violent
He did try it on with Pacquiao, at least. It was astounding how one-sided it turned out to be. Didnt Merchant or Lampley remark how Pacquiao mustve had a magnet in his gloves, because he couldnt miss Barreras head (which now had a metal plate inserted)? LOL.
I'd favour Pedroza over all 3. And anybody who finds him 'boring' to watch watches a different sport to me - Pedroza was beautiful. Like a prime Hopkins but slicker.
He had immense stamina, as good as anyone I have ever seen... He is easily one of the top ten late rounds fighters who ever lived I too would favor Pedroza over all three, but I like the chances of MAB and JMM best... though obviously all three would be highly competetive regardless of a win or loss Pedroza also had this arrogance about him, like he was infallible... As if taking his title was a laughable proposition, he fought that way Great fighter
