The kid could just plain fight...those body shots were a thing of beauty. If he stays focused he's a future champion.
was a good scrap but he needs to work on his defense. He walked into more than a few shots...Coleman can't punch a lick but was able to catch him flush several times. Offensively he's good, defensively not so much. He's young, needs a real trainer. If he's going to be that offensive he needs to learn the other half otherwise he'll always find himself in wars.
Coleman has a low KO percentage but aside from yesterday you've obviously never seen him fight if you think he can't punch a lick
As promising as he may be, rumors that he has done crack, coupled with three of his fights being overturned to No contests due to failed drug tests is alarming. I do not think I have ever seen a guy who failed three drug tests in a boxing career for recreational drugs, especially not twice in a row. That is truly unbelievable.
usually guys with power knock guys out or stop them. Coleman has 23 fights and 5 KO's...that seems to indicate he can't punch. And yes, I've seen him before. I've never known a guy who CAN punch with a 21% career KO ratio. I'm not sure how that works. Put it this way... Paulie Malignaggi has one more KO than Coleman...I think it's safe to say he can't punch worth a shit. Paris was hit flush multiple multiple times and Coleman never phased him. Even the knockdown was more of a case of Paris walking into the punch...he wasn't hurt by it...a bit off balance and caught him off guard and in an awkward position.
It was not much of a knockdown. It was a knockdown in the technical sense, but I agree he wasn't floored or hurt or anything. A bit of a fluke if you ask me.
I don't know anything about the kid but Coleman was the one who brought up the crack thing. Not sure if it's true or where he'd heard it. I believe Vernon said he smokes weed...which would over turn decisions. I recall Emmanuel Augustus agreeing to fights on the condition he WASN'T drug tested. He didn't hide his getting high.
I don't give care about his KO percentage...my eyes tell me he has pop. Patrick Lopez has a good chin and is a good fighter he'll tell you Coleman has pop. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yesm5xBFTJw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
he's better and tougher than a lot of the guys coleman didnt knock out early on in his career in 4 and 6 round prelim fights. point is, his knock out percentage is a bit misleading. he's not malignaggi.
I'm not sure. I've dealt with marijuana in my younger days, and I can't say the type of things he's been involved in with the shootings and the stabbings are the result of recreational marijuana use. That seems like the type of situation that dealers or crackheads/junkies get themselves into.
Paris is a decent fighter, but something about him irks the hell out of me. I don't see what signing with King will do for him. Not sure he has a single decent fighter left at 140 besides Kotelnik and is no longer capable of getting TV dates without co-promoting.
bad move by paris. king wont work hard for these guys he knows he cant make much money with. seemed he would look out for campbell simply because he had kicked the shit out of juan diaz who had left dkp.
Depends on how you look at it. He thought he would be facing Paul Malignaggi for his first fight w/ Golden Boy, but now looks like he's fighting Marcos Maidana Personally I don't think he wins either fight (a shame as I used to be very high on him), and not sure that one fight necessarily pays more than the other.
Why the heck is Alexander still at 140?....the guy is clearly drained, looks like skelator and has no physical strength. Now everyone thinks he's a bum. I swear most people in boxing are idiots.
He's not. Both of those fights mentioned were discussed at 147. Malignaggi moved up last year, and Chino would be willing to move up as a one-time deal to fight either one of them. But yeah, Alexander is 147 now. Amazingly, he's already a #1 contender w/ one of the sanctioning bodies w/o yet actually fighting at the weight.
i think alexander will outbox maidana at 147lbs. maidana doesnt seem like a guy who will do well goin up to welter. he looks soft at 140
