Instead of the media darling Sugar Ray Leonard, the Marvelous one tangos with the Body Snatcher at Caesars Palace

One of those rare fights where you will probably not find one soul picking McCallum, yet I think his chances here would be surprisingly handsome.

id certainly pick mcCallum and expect most would as well

I dont know, Neil. Hagler has the sentimental element on his side running pretty deep, & he was still a formidable fighter in 1987.

    Close fight.

    Yep, very

very close, excellent fight, could go either way

a prime Hagler wins clearly, IMO

  8. Body Snatcher all the way. Decision win, naturally.

you'd pick Iran Barkley over 87 Hagler

anything to diminish the man, and in turn diminish Leonard in order to keep up the charade that Mayweather could beat him

  10.

    Here we go again.

What's Mayweather got to do with this? (and when have I ever picked Mayweather to beat Leonard)

Hagler would have butchered Barkley, but '87 Hagler wouldn't have beaten a prime McCallum. It would have been close, but McCallum would have won.

  11. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

you picked Mayweather to not die in a fight against Marvin

    that's good enough for me

  12. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

you have also made outrageously off-base claims about Hagler's standing in 1987 and assertions of fighters he "ducked" that he did not in fact "duck" because none of them were considered anything special at that time

  13. Word.

Mayweather and Marvin are close in height. Marvin may be naturally much bigger but the way Floyd fights Marvin's size advantage wouldn't cause him to be the irresistable force that you're suggesting. Floyd would be cagey and elusive and therefore goes the distance no doubt.

  14. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    no, he dies

  15. As for that...I was merely being devil's advocate. That was a case when I was referring to Mayweather criticisms such as him not facing Cotto, Margarito, Cintron and some other irrelevant fucker when he first went up to 147lbs. I'm saying that with the same diseased logic it could be said that 1987 Hagler ducked Toney, mcCallum, Nunn and Barkley.

Both assertions are equally ridiculous is my point. Now shut up and go play with your guitar!

  16. No he doesn't. Hagler feasted on guys with minimal defense. Outside from Ray Leonard, Hagler never met a guy that can evade punches anywhere near Mayweather's ability.

  17. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Mayweather never fought a great fighter over 135 pounds in his life

    you are delusional

  18. So what?

  19. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

you don't think that is significant???

the fact that he cautiously outpointed a faded old guy with minimal interest in the sport at 147 pounds and it is far and away his biggest win above 135 doesn't give you pause when you try to match him up with a guy 12 pounds north who was far better than even a prime version of that faded old guy???

And honestly, you have proven over and over that you are profoundly ignorant about all things Hagler- from his own skills to those of his opposition... Mayweather has nothing for Hagler, nothing to earn his respect

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

im not really sure who are you referring to in this post. im guessing mosley, being that he was the only old guy mayweather jr fought at 147lbs.

clearly the best win he had above lightweight was Hatton.

Ah sly's back to floyd over hagler at 160.

I tell ya, this place is a microcosm of the real world. You find 5% of people know what they're talking about, and 40% who think they do but couldn't find north on a compass.

  22. loadedgloves

    loadedgloves "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Floyd might be able to survive a prime Hagler, but he would have to run like hell and wouldn't be very competitive doing it. Hagler is an ATG at 160, Floyd is an ATG at 130-135. Do the math and Floyd most likely gets stopped.

  23. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    Bullshit

    I'm referring obviously to Hoya

  24. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

    Floyd/Hoya was at 154

  25. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    ah, same difference

either way, that cautious points win over a faded guy more interested in his money and fame than in being a fighter is the single best win Floyd has post-Castillo... big fucking difference when the guy in the other corner is the southpaw from hell

  26. Hagler would have never stopped Floyd. Never. Hagler is much bigger but in the ring the size difference wouldn't be significant to look at. I just don't see Hagler hitting Floyd enough to stop him. Floyd's too good and too smart for that. Mayweather's no Caveman Lee.

    :giggle:

  27. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

    Hagler would disaster Floyd

  28. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

honestly, Mustafo Hamsho would beat the dogshit out of Floyd at 160

  29. :atu:

It was this same kinda logic that had people picking Juan Diaz over Pacman at 135lbs when pac was still a featherweight...let alone Hatton and Cotto.

"Size" isn't everything when you consider heights, reaches and styles as well.

Ability means much more than size. With your logic Carnera shoul dhave wiped the floor with Louis. Far bigger size discrepancy than Hamsho and Floyd.

    This is amateurish logic.

honestly man, your nuthuggery of this guy is epic

if you think he'd be able to keep a big GOOD middleweight off of him for 12 rounds, you're nuts

Seriously, HOPKINS would have trouble with Hamsho, never mind Floyd

Here's a scenario for you: how many rounds does Mayweather win against a prime Hopkins at 160? wait, don't answer that... I will feel too guilty if your head explodes trying to figure out a way to continously fellate these two fighters and exaggerate them to the point where all of their fights are either 12-round shutouts or 1st round KOs
