List some fights where a fighter got his ass kicked and wouldn't take a rematch. I'll start with: Wlad K/Corrie Sanders Kostya / Vince Phillips
Andre Dirrell vs Arthur Abraham. You can't say he didn't get his ass kicked. He was, after all, dying on the ground.
Tszyu vs. Phillips was the Most SHAMEFUL Example REED's Ever Seen...Phillips Offered Tszyu the BULK of the Purse, Offered to Fight in Australia or Russia & even Showed Up @ Some of Kostya's Pressers for Other Fights... & This was When Phillips STILL HAD the Title he Won from Tszyu...Kostya was Repeatedly Asked about a RE w/Phillips to the Point of IRRITATION & his Infamous "Please Do Not Be Rude to Me" Remark to Jim Gray.... REED:Lok:
Lennox Lewis / V. Klitschko. Lewis didn't get his ass kicked but he sure didn't want to see a rematch.
No, Lennox probably didn't but what if he did? Even if he wasn't right on the verge of retirement, it took a long time for Vitali to heal. Was Lewis going to wait around for an unkown amount of time to pass? Try to maintain active and fight another no-hoper in between?
I sure wish the Lewis-Quitali fight had gone longer. Lewis was about 2 rounds away from icing that fraud. Then we wouldnt have to hear about this "what if the fight had gone longer" bullshit nearly 10 years later.
Hold onto your hats fellas, here we go agaaaaainnnnnnnnnn :: I could say the same for Wlad vs Sanders. Wlad wasn't going to fight Sanders immediately, and Vitali was locked into that WBC thing with Lewis, where Lewis sat on the belt trying to make his mind up. So Sanders wasn't going to be fighting Lewis, who should have been rematching Vitali, who was happy to fight anyone but Wladimir. No real duck-jobs as such here on anyones behalf. Just a lot of procrastination and BS, all very easily explained without resorting to "ducking" arguments. If you are looking for a recent duck-job, try Amir Khan vs Breidis Prescott for size.
Easy to "ice a fraud" when the "fraud" has one of his eyeballs hanging out of his head based on a bad cut. I don't think Lennox would have won that particular fight without the cut...which changed all of the momentum.
yet that cut was caused by a punch. that's like saying gatti would've beaten floyd had he not been hit 10 consecutive clean shots to the face each round.
no. Cut was caused by a punch, sure. But it's not like there is any art to cutting an opponent with a punch. A man is trying to land a punch to hurt his opponent. When an opponent is cut by a punch the result is still "lucky" becaus ethe intention wasn't to cause the cut. When Vitali's rotator cuff went in the Byrd fight, it was probably caused by Byrd blocking a punch with his open hand. Good skill by Byrd, but he didn't intentinally damage the man's rotator cuff. It was still "lucky".
Yeah I'll bet James "Urban Cred" took a nose dive that night. I guess he just hadn't fought anyone with that Pacific Style.
Believe it. Running around hitting a bag hanging out of a pick-up being chased by Caster Semenya is all very good when your next fight is with Idaho's "Man of the Year" Brian Vera. But that Pacific Ring-of-Fire Style is just a totally different bag of tricks. You saw what happened when Marquez headed out to Indonesia to fight Chris John. Shit was so shocking that people had to pretend they had seen the fight.
