If Klitschko were a better fighter, he wouldnt have been hit with nearly everything Lewis threw, & therefore may notve sustained a cut.

Cuts are a part of Boxing. I do see what Sly is saying, I understand it, but I dont agree with the overall point being made.

Lennox was taking his share of bombs in the fight too, it's not like Vitali was outclassed. Lennox won fair and square obviously, but it's not like fans didn't want to see a rematch, it was a good fight. It's not so much that Vitali was owed a rematch, as a fan I would have appreciated seeing it though.

In fact Vitali got hit much less than Lennox and the cut was caused by laces. But I see your point; Vitali did not avoid the punches with correct technique

    As would I have.

However I also know Klitschko could not have caught Lewis on a worse night. Still couldnt beat him, though.

That fight is a great example of what a shit puncher Vitali is.

I found ugotabe's crying baby emoticon ironic, since it more accurately represents the Euro Vitali hugger contingent's take on that fight. Vitali LOST, remember?

Both men took the fight on short notice. Vitali shorter than Lewis.

And if you are saying that Rahman caught Lewis on a better night than Vitali, then that just about contradicts everything you have ever said about Rahman.

If things were this simple, we wouldn't be hearing this Lennox would have iced that fraud garbage and you understand that. Well, maybe not you but everybody else

Please go back and re-read the entire post you replied to with the crying baby icon.

Let me try to break it down simply for you -

If you guys weren't sobbing loudly about how Vitali coulda, woulda, shoulda won, then it wouldn't be necessary to wish for you to STFU by saying "I wish the fight would have gone on 2 rounds longer so Lewis could've iced that fraud and shut all these crying morons up."

So accept that Vitali lost, that he's an inferior fighter to the most inferior version of Lennox Lewis, and let's move on.

I guess it would've been nice, if only because it would've meant I'd never have to listen to any garbage about how Vitali is a worthwhile fighter (let alone capable of beating Lennox Lewis) ever again. But I'm not losing any sleep over it, the outcome of a fight between the two at their respective bests is not something that's even remotely in question for me.

Some people demanded a rematch between Oscar and Whitaker even though DLH won by six points and was never close of being stopped

lewis was the only one who had to alter his gameplan and style of fighting because of the switch in opponents. this is a non factor for vitali as he was in shape and didnt have to change his gameplan while lennox was out of shape and planning for a smaller fighter

why was Phillips clamoring for a rematch with Kostya? Wasn't quite sure about that. I also don't think badly of Tszyu because he didn't want any part of it. I think there are some people you just don't think you can beat, especially after you threw the kitchen sink at them and gotten thrashed in return.

Yes. Vitali has a plan to fight Cedric Bostice. No changes there then.

    yep.

was it cedric boswell? either way, smaller opponent - no change to vitali's ultimate gameplan... fight on the outside, fight as the bigger man, make boswell (or bostice) follow you around the ring when possible.... basically the way lennox fights, on his "pitcher's mound" if you will. Both guys faced an upgrade with the switch, only lennox had his entire natural way of fighting altered because of it.

Probably, but two judges had it 116-110 Oscar. The point was that sometimes the official or even clear results are not that clear and chances of them happening again are weak, and everybody knows that. Even though Lewis' win was legit, everybody understands that it would have been different had he knocked Vitali out (nobody would demand a rematch). Also if Oscar and Pea had a rematch, nobody would pick Oscar by six points even though he did just that

It was a stupid analogy. Cry all you want, Lewis stopped Vitali fair and square. The chances of Vitali getting an out of shape and unmotivated Lewis again were much less likely than the chances of Vitali getting stopped again. Smart money would've reflected that.

Yes. Lewis did in fact get younger over the following year, he didn't get balder or fatter or older at all. :dunno:

I guess if you want to surmise that Vitali would have won or been competitive because Lewis was old and would have been even further past it by the time they rematched, that's valid. But that doesn't really say much for Vitali, and it seems more like an argument against a rematch than for one.

I'm not seeing your point. Cedric Boswell is just as dissimilar to Lennox Lewis as Kirk Johnson is dissimilar to V-Klit. Seems they both had to alter their game plans quite a bit to me.
