I think Benn would get beaten up badly, but it sure would be a war while it lasted.

    Agree^^^

Benn throws everything, including the kitchen sink, at Tiger for several rounds but just can not hurt him and can not take what's coming back at him... a game, courageous Benn is a bloody, swollen mess by the time he is saved form further punishment by the ref, circa round 7

Perhaps a better matchup would have been Dick Tiger vs Rodrigo Valdez.

    That is a SICK fight

I could hardly think of two guys who were more "no,no, you don't want to do that with him" when it came to going at it on the inside

Gene Fullmer, who was an ox, basically said "fuck that shit" and boxed (in his oddly effective but ugly way) Dick Tiger ... and Rubin Carter whose only real quality was strength at close quarters, was absolutely, positively devastated by Tiger... I like Giardello's line about Tiger: "I wouldn't trade STAMPS with him"

Valdez knocked out Bennie Briscoe, of all people, and outfought him on the inside... In all three of their fights, he was able to trade successfully with Briscoe, which is amazing... Nobody else was able to do that, they had to beat Bennie by staying the hell away from him... Carlos Monzon was REAL CAREFUL with Valdez

That's just a can't miss type of fight, guaranteed to be brutal
