    Terry Norris, the Ante-Hopkins.

Very fluid, very fast, not much of a chin. Screwed up big when he failed to land a purported $4.5m payday, which he had definitely earned, vs Oscar. Would have destroyed Chavez. Norris was one of these guys, a bit like Wlad, who found a way to lose or have a tough night with guys he was really a lot better than.

Talented, a good puncher, excellent combinations

But I hated him and always will... he was happy to let the hype machine build him up while he feasted on used up welterweights and the no-hopers of the weak division he found himself a titlist in... he was a dirty fighter as well... he avoided every threat possible and even then it backfired on him quite memorably against a fading Simon Brown... He never sought out the challenging fights because he knew he'd get knocked out with his girl chin

All That said, even with his crystal chin, he'd kick the shit out of every single welterweight and junior middleweight on Earth right now

Stylewise i'd favor Pacquiao before Floyd against Norris.

    most definitely, I agree

  8. Neil

norris wouldve gave whitaker a whipping had they fought.

Nah, Norris would probably beat Whitaker @ 154 by close-ish decision but it wouldn't be a whipping. (unless it's the version that fought Tito you're speaking of)

  10. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

a whipping. whitaker who faced vasquez.

Whitaker doesn't match up well with Norris. Neil is probably right.

Don't see that as a whipping, but I agree that Whitaker would win. We already did this in MM a couple months back..

merchant asked whitaker after the vasquez fight if he was willing to fight norris and whitaker pretty much said no. i think norris would've beaten him down.

  15. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    Norris was a dummy

    He's not beating Whitaker

It's the same as when Whitaker was fighting... Half the guys he fought, you'd hear the same shit form people before the fight: "How's Whitaker gonna keep him off??? how's he gonna get his respect?? this guy is going to walk through hsi punches... blahblahblah" but every time it was the same thing: the guy would find himself surprised that it actually did hurt to get punched in the face repeatedly by Whitaker, that it really was THAT hard to consistently land anything on him, and that he really was a tough, surly little bastard who was far stronger than he looked, especially on the inside... Norris would find out, too, but then again that would have meant facing a top fighter at or near that fighter's prime, so of course Norris wouldn't be taking that fight

  16. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

get real, norris wouldve jumped on a fight with whitaker if it was ever offered.

  17. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

yes, his big history of risk taking surely supports such a claim

Norris and big fight are mutually exclusive concepts

    chickenshit bully

  18. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

yes im sure he was terrified of a welterweight with a knockout percentage lower than his typical blood/alcohol content.

  19. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Norris was terrified of any opponent who could beat him

    and he would be beaten

  20. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

was he also scared of chavez?

  21. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Chavez wasn't a welterweight champion and he did not carry the weight well... Whitaker was and did

Norris was too stupid to beat Whitaker

  22. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

whitaker was a money fight, a smaller guy who didnt have the power to hurt norris. if you truly believe he wouldve passed on facing him you are delusional.

  23. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

everybody had power to hurt Norris:nono:

If you think he would have beaten him, it is you who is delusional

  24. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

i think he wouldve beaten the perico out of pernell.

  25. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

yes because he was so great:scratcher:

and because so many others had success attempting to do that:notallthere:

  26. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

right. i guess norris wouldnt be able to hit the guy.

because norris fought how many guys he had trouble landing his best shots against?

  27. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    because Norris fought WHO again?

2 B Fair, Don King Held Terry Norris Back...

Based PURELY on his STYLE of Fighting, REED Seriously Doubts that Norris was RELUCTANT to Fight ANYBODY, Especially SMALLER Guys that Would've Gotten him LARGE Paydays...

Norris Would've JUMPED @ the Chance to Fight Pernell Whittaker, but Don King DIDN'T Have Options on Whittaker & Especially when U Consider that Whittaker had All but Taken Julio Cesar Chavez's "0" from him, King was Probably LEERY of Matching Whittaker & Norris...King RARELY Matched his Guys Against Fighters he Didn't ALREADY have Under Contract...This is why Roy Jones Never Fought Nigel Benn or Gerald McClellan, for Example...

REED Isn't Sure WHO Would've Won btwn Norris & Whittaker, but it'd have Been Amongst THE TOUGHEST Fights Sweet Pea EVER had...Norris' SIZE, STRENGTH, YOUTH & ATHLETICISM would've Made for an INTERESTING Contrast to Whittaker's Experience, Counterpunching & Defensive Prowess...

    REED:kidcool:

  29. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

norris sparred hundreds of rounds against his brother who was a fucking cruiser/heavy. doesnt sound like a guy who was scared to fight anyone

  30. mikE

    mikE "Twinkle Toes" McJack

He had no problem rematching Brown, though, and I thought he won every round of the rematch. Giampa's 116-112 card in favor of Norris was one of the worst scorecards I've seen.

Whatever criticisms there are to be aimed at Norris, ducking guys who could beat him shouldn't be on the list, imo.
