He did, but he got a great contract out of it because Don was expecting Trinidad to beat him and REALLY wanted to unify the belts with Tito as champ---to the extent that the Sugar Ray Robinson trophy already had Tito's name on it.

  4. This is where I am at.

The Motherfucker should have tried to face Darius, Jirov, Calzaghe and Hopkins in he late 90s/early00s and silenced his critics.

Hopkins didn't get a "great" contract from King. He fought with King over it. In another thread we were talking about Calzaghe and how Hopkins "pulled out" of a fight with calzaghe when the truth is he was upset with his contract with King. Hopkins was fine with the fight and the purse but was angered upon discovering King was entitled to 50%.

Hopkins fought three fights under King...Carl Daniels, the awful Hakkar fight then the fight where he beat Joppy's face into a horrible disfigured mask...it was on an awful PPV card King financed himself. I believe Ruiz fought Rahman that night. For that fight Hopkins made roughly $300,000.

Hopkins was pissed off because he had a guarantee minimum which King didn't pay him. After he left King he got the DLH fight. I believe he fought Robert Allen as a mandatory defense before fighting Oscar.

Not to mention...Roy moved to 175 in what...'96 or '97? Joe didn't start calling Roy out until 2000 or 2001 and it wasn't at 175...he wanted Roy at 168.

In other words...Joe didn't want the fight.

Calzaghe didn't want anyone tough until they were old. The guy finally got a little bit brave at the end of his career.

Roy fought the best fighters he could face in his prime, no question about it. He consistently dominated everyone in the top 10 of every division he fought in, and the fact that only a couple fights against borderline top-5 guys like Michelshewski didn't get made means nothing, he was busy beating up some other top 5 guy at the time and would have easily dominated this guy and everyone knows it. Roy has a great resume and was probably the most unbeatable fighter ever during his prime.

De La Hoya is a cross-dresser and that is indefensibly shameful, but REED, your man never showed one ounce of the balls during his career that that cross-dresser did. I have the class not to defend De La Hoya here though, whereas you will always maintain the weak facade Jones had a pair. He didnt.

Is THIS what U're Clinging To???:scratcher:...

REED RIPPED thru This Premise a Couple Weeks Ago, Ramone...Dela had 'The Balls' to Make the UNDISPUTED 160 lb Champion of the World Weigh-In @ 157...He had "The Balls" to Take On Shane Mosley 2 Fights Into his Welterweight Tenure, After Spending his ENTIRE Pro Career @ 135...THEN, he Waited Until Mosley had Been TWICE BEATEN by Forrest, Before Pursuing a RE...

Dela had "The Balls" to Pursue Ike Quartey AFTER he'd Been INACTIVE for a YEAR or More & Tito Trinidad AFTER he'd Been STRUGGLING to Make 147 for QUITE Some Time...Dela had "The Balls" to Wait Until Fernando Vargas had Been EXPOSED, Before FINALLY Acquiescing & Fighting him...<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

The BOTTOM Line is, Roy Jones DECISIVELY Beat BETTER Fighters than Dela has...That's an UNDENIABLE FACT...He Also DECISIVELY Beat BETTER Fighters than your Precious Ricardo Lopez EVER Had "The Balls" to DARE Face...

So w/All DUE Respect, Put THAT in your Pipe & SMOKE it...

He should have faced Darius. Who the blame lies with there is anyone's guess, but I'd think about half is about right. Hopkins he'd beaten, ditto Toney. Calzaghe 'wasn't on his radar', according to RJJ himself in the build up to their sham of a fight, so read into that as you will, but even Joe described a prime RJJ as 'near unbeatable' in 2005. Mcclellan was cabbaged before the RJJ fight was due to take place (beat Benn and unify v RJJ was the alleged plan), Benn refused to fight him point blank but the offer was only actually made after the G-Man fight and that fight finished Benn completely. Eubanks never seriously considered fighting him. Collins retired when Jones wouldn't fight him- he loudly and actively called RJJ out for about two years and that complaint is legit IMO.

Otherwise, Jones suffers from the same problem that Hopkins at 160 and Calzaghe at 168 both had in the similar timeframe; they ruled conclusively over divisions which were, almost entirely, shit. Not sure how much Jones Jr can be blamed for that.

apparently the suicidal homosexual also confirmed he pulled out of fights and postponed fights whilst faking injuries. certainly this took place with the quartey bout where he pushed it back from november to february to make quartey EVEN MORE inactive and waste a 3rd straight training camp.
