Pre-Tito Vargas. I wanted to see this at the time.

Woulda been a helluva fight! Simon's workrate and toughness would have pushed Vargas to the limit, but I think Nando places his shots better, and his edge in power wins out as he lands the more telling punches. Vargas by close decision.

agree... Vargas would need to use his jab, keep his discipline, avoid trading

Not really. Vargas showed he could fight disciplined.

Agreed. That was an excellent and rarely talked about fight. Vargas won it clear but Quartey was there all the way.

at that point in time quartey was just not as good of a 154lber as simon.

no, but he was still a dangerous, highly credible opponent with a great jab of his own

it was a good, albeit narrow victory for vargas over an excellent fighter who was past his peak and extremely inactive. not to mention vargas was nearly KOd in round 9 or 10

Quartey was a more skillful guy than Simon, though... it was a good achievement on Vargas's part to outbox him

Harry Simon is yet to master that slick Inner-Oxnard style.

    Vargas KO3.

How many inner-Oxnard fighters did Simon face?
