Notice there's no option for, "I don't know." Because guess what. None of us know. That's not the point. The point is to use what we know about how that fight played out, and how subsequent ones have played out, to make an educated guess.

Were Margarito's gloves loaded in his fight against Cotto?

It is great that democracy can solve even this problem.

There's no problem needing solved. What there is is a deliberate refusal on the part of some to not use common sense and pretend that Margarito's win over Cotto remains credible on the basis we can't be, "sure" his gloves were loaded that night.

We as people have common sense. Let's use it. The 85 year old woman from Wiscounsin does not need strip-searched at the air-port. The 25 year old Arab guy from Detroit? It might be worth everyone's while to search him.

  5. Hmmm...next time I'm smuggling firearms into a country I'm using an 85 year old woman from Wisconsin.

I think they were. Once he was caught he got beat up by a guy with two wins in his last 6 fights who struggled mightily with Ricardo Mayorga, and he's looked below average ever since.

He's declined worse then Brady Anderson coming off steroids.

Let's hope Cotto beats the shit out of him in the rematch. It will be very interesting to see how Cotto deals with the pressure.

Lets hope Pacquiao did some permanent damage to Margarito and it shows.

Manny Pac beat the life out of him. I just re watched the fight just to enjoy the beating. Pac could have ko'd him if he would have pressed the fight late. The beating he took was career ending and I cant see how he could ever be the same. Cotto picked a good time for a re match. What is impressive is the fact that Margarito kept coming even to the very end. Lets see what happens.

Unfortunately its very possible. Cotto dosent handle pressure well and he MUST find a way to hammer Margarito's body. If he dosent he's FUCKED because Margaito is gonna pressure him for 12 rounds.

i think he loaded them. Sadly i think he has a good chance to win the rematch again tho, on account of cotto's inability to deal with pressure. margarita has always been a strong physical fighter with or without plaster, we will see how much of a factor it all had.

i can't tell you how much i am rooting for cotto to win this fight. put a gun to my head i say margarita wins it. hope i am wrong

The evidence that his gloves were loaded for the Cotto fight.....that evidence is purely circumstantial, supposition, most of it stems from Cotto basically crying blood in that fight, and Margarito being caught with loaded gloves in a dressing room for his next fight, a fight he went on to lose badly.

Nobody could ever secure a conviction for that.

But if Cotto sued, for personal damages, claiming that Margarito had, on the balance of probabilities, loaded his gloves for their fight, Cotto might well easily satisfy the standard of proof required.

Look at it like the OJ case. We know what he did, we can't prove it, but we know it regardless.

Margarito remains a POS and I would love it if Cotto wasted him.

so, in a civil situation, based on the preponderance of evidence, Cotto would have a shot?

Cotto will be able to throw body punches because he won't be so terrified of staying in the pocket long enough to do so, as he was in the first fight.

This will make all the difference.

Racial profiling is indeed common sense in certain contexts.

I would suggest they were indeed 'loaded' The manner in which he chipped away and broke Cotto was very surprising at the time

for a guy who allegedly loaded his gloves, margarito sure didnt seem worried about getting caught. parading around the ring with said handwraps openly exposed to the viewing audience, state boxing officials, referee, promoters, commentators, etc in the ring after that fight

It seems that way to me. It does not help Margarito's case at all that Nazim Richards found plaster-pads in his gloves. Worse yet, Margarito was banned, and he wasn't banned because people found his version of events believable. It doesn't help that he seemed helpless without the pads when he fought Mosley.

All of whom were doing what? Not looking at his hands. Thats what.

I think Margarito loaded his gloves for the Cotto fight, but judging by your posts I don't think you understand what "reasonable doubt" means

"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt"- the standard of proof for criminal proceedings, it must be borne by the prosecution.

"On the Balance of Probability"- the standard of proof for civil proceedings, it is borne by the claimant party.

"BARD" is a higher standard and requires a greater degree of proof and a higher quality of evidence {to lift any doubt} than the "BoP".
