NATHAN Drums Up Conversation like a Good Ol' Pound for Pound Thread...Inevitably, Someone will Take the Time to Mention How FRIVOLOUS an Excercise it is, Making a Pound for Pound List, but REED's Always Been Partial to them... On that Note, Whip it Out, Fellas... Here's REED's... 1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Floyd Mayweather 3. Nonito Donaire 4. Sergio Martinez 5. Bernard Hopkins 6. Juan Manuel Marquez 7. Wladimir Klitschko 8. Andre Ward 9. Amir Khan 10. Vitali Klitschko Floyd SHOULD B Unrated Based on Inactivity, but REED's Already Working Under the ASSumption that he'll Look FloydLIKE in the Ortiz Bout, in a Couple Weeks...REED STRONGLY Considered Carl Froch &/or Tim Bradley for the 10th Spot, but Klitschko's LONGEVITY Won Out... REED:dancingBaby:
Pac. Floyd, Donaire after that, I don't give a fuck... it's the worst pound-for-pound list of my lifetime
how can it be the worst of your lifetime if it contains two guys you consider among the top 50 of all time?
1 carl froch 2 Amir khan 3 kell brook 4 nathan clevely 5 ricky burns 6 george groves 7 tyson fury 8 james de gale 9 david price 10 david haye ol before you guys say anything this list aint biased accept for david haye, i felt sorry for him so i put him in at number ten
Just how Andre Ward and Amir Khan get on a top-10 list ahead of Tomasz Adamek is beyond me. Adamek is a two division champ competing in his third division, and his competition is arguably superior to any of the above two fighters, and when you mix in that he has wins at 200 and 200+, well ....figure it out. Amir Khan? Sorry. No way he is pfp above Adamek...with what? Wins over an ancient Zab Judah and an ancient MAB, at 135?
Agreed. I love the topic and UGTBK and others will always protest or try to break it! 1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Floyd Mayweather (Will change if he dominates Ortiz) 3. Donaire 4. Martinez 5. Hopkins 6. Wlad 7. Marquez 8. Vitali 9. Khan 10.Ward
Khan hasn't even won titles in two divisions. He pretty much got ran out of the 135lb division by Breidis Prescott and who has he beaten since Prescott? Oisin Fagan- Irish. Enough said. Marco Antonio Barrera :: Kotelnik- decent fighter, biggest win was over Gavin Rees Salita- More crystal than a meth factory Malignaggi- Hatton leftover...a shot Hatton leftover, Cotto leftover Maidana {good win} Paul McCloskey- European level fighter. Zab Judah- see Barrera. Judah was stopped 10 years ago. It seems to me that Khan is getting credit through the impression that Bradley is afraid of him. Fuck it....Adameks only loss is better than some of Khan's wins. Putting Chad Dawson on the mat with a single right hand has to be worth more than FIFTY cut-induced wins over the likes of Gator McKloskey. Pound-for-Pound....its Adamek who is fighting guys who routinely outweigh him by 15, 20, 40lbs. He's not dragging anyone down to his weight. He's not making ridiculous catch-weights. He took two unbeaten scalps at 200, from Steve Cunningham and Jonathan Banks. His next fight is against 42-2 Vitali Klitschko. What are we saying? That Adamek needs to wax Vitali to crack the top 10?? :dunno: But Khan needs decisions over Kotelnik and Maidana and it's happy days?? :dunno:
No. To win the WBC Heavyweight title he has to beat Vitali Klitschko. Let's not muddy the waters with the old Jake Donovan angle about judging a man as a heavyweight because that is where he fights.......we are talking pfp now. Pound for Pound he is the ONLY fighter in recent memory with a title in a weight-restricted class, in two weight-restricted classes, who has moved UP and taken on guys who outweigh him by 15, 20, 30lbs, and beaten them. Thats what pound-for-pound is, right? And Manny Pacquaio fights in what division? The 145lb division?? Adamek has titles in two divisions, and is competing for a WBC title in a third......to my reckoning...is he the only fighter in history to have had title fights at 175, 200 and now 200+? :dunno: Guy has a 44-1 record.
He won clearly, surviving a late scare. Just what that has to do with the pfp thing is not clear. Adamek went on to bigger things, Dawson lost to Froch/Hopkins victim, Jean Pascal. If you want to include Dawson you can. But Amir Khan is just laughable.
I didn't rate Adamek before his big decision wins over Grant and McBride, but my hands are tied now. Guy is a killer.
Reed...c'mon kinfolk...this is not 1955, where cYa fought once a month. Get over it. Whenever May steps in the ring, he's chlenged himself. You CANNOT say the same for Pac, with a straight face.
same old same old. I didn't rate Amir Khan before his spatula-inducing loss to ATG Breidis Prescott, but dominant KO wins over noted bombers like Paul McCloskey and Oisin Fagan have reinvigorated my belief in Brother Amir. Not to mention negotiating in a carefree and hands-down fashion the absolute minefield that IS Andreas Kotelnik. Starting your career at 175 and taking on Chris Arreola is a fucking cinch by comparison.
Another easy number eh??? :: Vitali figures to outweigh and out-stand him by what, 30lbs and 6 inches?? Adamek has fought Cunninham and Banks. Both of whom are better than Oisin Fagan, Prescott {:laugh11:}, McCloskey, Kotelnik etc. Bottom line is one has ZERO argument for having Khan in ahead of Adamek on any pfp list.
doesnt mean much in my book. i was glad adamek defeated that bloated bag of mierda but it was hardly a resume booster.
I'm not defending Khan, don't think he's top 10. Just so we're clear, Adamek is another meaningless win for Vitali.
Nope...it's just that Adamek never got stuck to the canvas by an Argie Roadsweeper in a fashion that drove the price of egg-lifters above the price of oil. His one loss is to a guy called Chad Dawson. He won a title at 175, made multiple defences, none of which involved him being pan-fried by a bum, lost to Dawson MOVED UP, and unified, then MOVED UP and secured a title fight, beating much bigger men along the way. He's had a better career than Amir Khan and is a better fighter, pfp.
"another meaningless win"...I like it. I'm not discussing Vitali. Fuck Vitali. Happy? I am discussing Tomasz Adamek. He now fights for a major title in his THIRD division...has consistently fought better comp, lost to a better fighter than Khan did, has always fought in an entertaining, trigger-happy fashion...yet finds himself omitted from the pfp list of probably one of this forums most respected posters. DOES NOT COMPUTE.
