Really looking forward to this one. Not only does Rampage have a granite chin but he's extremely hard to get off his feet. I'm curious to see how Jones approaches this.

Jon Jones has never had his chin checked nor does he have punching/boxing skills to speak of. I have a feeling he's not going to take Jackson's combinations. Whether Jackson can get off is a whole other story. Jackson will need to close the distance. I'm just wondering if Jackson is still really hungry or if he's content to make his 450K per fight and enjoy the good life.
His last few performances have been really miserable. Evans, Hamill and Machida were not really impressive performances by Jackson in the slightest.

I agree with you REED so far Jon Jones looked amazing against B level competition (Save for Shogun I guess but I'm not really that high on him especially his knee problems and all those bullshit excuses) Rampage is a A level guy when's motivated and ON but lately he hasn't really been ON. His fights with Machida, Rashad and Hamill haven't been really impressive but if anything he still is a BIG 205 punder who Jon Jones will not throw around like a rag doll. His chin is solid his take down D is solid and his stand up is very good. I'm very curious how Jon's chin responds to Rampage's shots if Rampage lands and also what strategy Jon brings with him to the ring. I think we just might see a little more cautious Jon winning a 4th round ground and pound tko on an exhausted Rampage.

it will be interesting to see how jones approaches his offense. if he decides to strike from distance, i can see jackson closing the gap and making it dangerous, but if jones effectively uses his throws and judo trips, i see a one sided fight in his favor.

Jones showed little respect for Rua's punching power and I doubt he'll give much more respect to Rampage.

Let's be honest, Rampage is a hard hitter but he can't pull the trigger anymore. The dude has 1 knockout win in his last 7 fights and that was against the loose chinned Wanderlai Silva.

And being even more honest, most of the guys Rampage fought during those 7 fights are guys that CAN be knocked out. Keith Jardine? Griffin? Evans? Hamill? Machida? They were all knocked out by other fighters within a couple fights of their bouts with Jackson. And Jackson didn't manage to even seriously hurt any of them.

I think Jones just overwhelms Rampage with ease. Rampage doesn't have near the balance, footwork, reflexes or speed at this stage to do anything meaningful against Jones.

The punchers chance is always there in MMA, but that's a LOOOOOOOOOOONG shot for Rampage.

Rampage is unmotivated out of shape and well past his prime. He has looked terrible in his recent fights. Jones will win easily.

To be honest, no. I'd like to see it, but basically I agree with Trpl's post especially the bits TLC just highlighted.

Jackson is a good puncher and actually a good boxer by MMA standards but he is just going through the motions these days. It's VERY telling he couldn't manage to KO or even properly hurt some very hurtable fighters, especially Jardine and Griffin.

He's good enough to beat the likes of Machida and Griffin, but I can't even seen him putting up a fight against Jones, I think it'll be pretty 1 sided. Rampage is tough and savvy so it won't be a blowout, but it won't be competitive either.

LOL.. If I had to guess, TLC being a contrarian, he was probably disagreeing in thinking that Rampage seriously hurt Griffin, Jardine and Evans.

It was clear Rampage hurt forest and Jardine. Who ever questioned that?

No, the point was whether he seriously hurt any of them. He landed great shots on all three guys and they didn't go anywhere.

I think those GIF's kind of underscore my point. Despite those shots neither of the 3 was close to being finished. And again, all 3 are guys that CAN and HAVE been stopped by lesser punchers.

So, the idea of Rampage being able to stop Jon Jones despite not ever really coming close to stopping Evans, Machida, Griffin, Jardine, Hammil, is a stretch.

In fact, at this stage in their careers, Rua is more dangerous on his feet than Rampage and Jones toyed with him like a cat with a ball of yarn.
