I originally posted a speculative thing, but I've decided against it There's not enough to go on Ray was one of the "Murderer's Row" guys and CLEARLY a superior, elite-level guy in an incredible era... but there's not enough for me to analyze, there's no full films of any of his fights If it was somebody different from that time I'd be more confident in making a pick For what it's worth, Ezzard Charles could go in there at 185 and issue a boxing lesson and shit kicking right along with it
I'm talking about hitting Ezzard Charles for 15 rounds and not being able to floor him or KO him. How many knockdowns did he need vs Moore?? As for that pillar of granite, Don Cockell....::
A) He was the same size as Ezzard B) Ezzard is one of the greatest, most skillful fighters to ever breathe C) He knocked him out in the rematch What are you on about? Newsflash, Irish... Ezzard Charles was way fucking better than Adamek... it's not even debateable... Marciano was way better than Adamek... Archie Moore was way better than Adamek What were you trying to prove here with this matchup? other than the fact that you don't know anything about the game?
Elmer was by all accounts a tremendous fighter... he was 1-1 with Charles... the victory over him a disputed decision I don't know if Elmer Ray could do it, all I have are descriptions of his skill and style, I can't SEE him Going purely off the record alone, he's a top fighter... Every guy on Murderer's Row was damn good... I've seen every known film of all the guys and they were badass... there's no film of Ray, so I can't predict his style as a mesh with Adamek's Charles, I can do that with... and Charles would outbox and outpunch Adamek any day of the week
Even then, he can't do it if they are both 175, Adamek gets sodomized the higher in weight it goes, the less one-sided the fight is, but Charles is still the winner He's vastly superior
Irish doesn't know what proper punching technique looks like. He's a boxing fan the way my sister is a football fan.
