I have a feeling Floyd might take him out early. Ortiz always gets dropped by right hands and he doubles the force by walking straight into them like a spaz. Obviously the straight right hand is Floyds best punch as well. Floyd KO 4

Floyd anytime he steps on the gas, anytime he feels like it

for the sake of this excercise... FLOYD MAYWEATHER TKO9

Floyd wins whenever he feels like it. This is a total mismatch- another sham exercise in putting $$$'s in Mayweather's account.

Ortiz is a Young, Hungry, Lion

he is bigger, stronger, younger than Floyd..

he'd prolly drop pacman but then get stopped late by him...

I agree though... Floyd ends it whenever he steps it up

    Mayweather KO 9

Only question to me about this fight is if Ortiz can last the distance. If he does it will likely be more a case of Floyd taking his foot of the gas than Ortiz earning it.

Mayweather KO 9 sounds about right. i see two scenarios. ortiz quitting after about 8 rounds or running to a punch and falling down ala Hatton.

I think the fight will be stopped by Ortiz's corner. PBF doesn't have the power to stop Ortiz out-right, but he will dominate to the point Ortiz's corner steps in.

I can't image anybody picking Ortiz other than a Floyd fan.

Floyd W12. Really surprised how many people picking him by stoppage??

ortiz seems like he gets discouraged if things don't go his way. granted, he beat berto in his last fight, but that's one fight. i've forgotten about the maidana fight, but i'm surprised that no one's mentioning how bad he looked against Peterson, who's clearly notches and notches below mayweather.

mayweather might get stunned or possibly even dropped early on, but i'd be more than just surprised if ortiz was able to win. he's not exactly what i'd call a good finisher either.

Floyd UD is a safe bet too. It's just that Ortiz is a sucker for right hands and his punch resistance is not so great either.

mayweather hits hard enough to stop guys especially when he's able to catch them clean w/ his right hands. i thought at one point, shane was on the verge of getting stopped. mosley is a much harder dude than ortiz and has had better survival instincts avoid a stoppage.

good point. i completely forgot about that fight! funny how one good win can turn a fighter's career around. once again, PBF has an easy opponent to face.

The more I think about it, the more I think Ortiz has no chance.

    Floyd TKO 9.

Ortiz is a good fighter, and has very good offense, but he is an awful finisher, awful.

If he was as good a finisher as say, Mosley for example, he would have TKO wins over Maidana, Peterson, and Berto.

This fight could resemble the Hatton fight somewhat. Ortiz is going to have some success early, due to his good power, speed, and aggression, but he's not good enough to beat Floyd, he'll gradually get picked apart and beaten up, and be ready to be stopped in 9 rounds or so.

    Mayweather UD.

He could stop Ortiz if he truly wanted to but the more likely scenario is that he just patiently picks him apart with his feints, angles, and counters. I doubt he presses for a KO here, even if he knocks down Ortiz. When its all said and done, I don't think he'll have too much of a problem with him. But he won't go all out for a stoppage. Its just not him.

I totally agree it's just not him, but not unlike Hatton, Ortiz might be too aggressive for his own good, and allow Floyd to stop him with minimal risk.

Ã’rtiz strikes me as being the sort of guy who has a basic minimum he sets himself, once he has reached that, he is likely to, metaphorically speaking, pat himself on the back, and basically give up, especially if he has been down a few times by then. He won't quit-quit, but he'll game-quit, tell everyone he did his best, collect his $ and go home.

So is there any point in even getting this PPV? (Haven't been following boxing much lately...sounds like the result is in the bag and the only reason to get the PPV is if you like watching Floyd run his mouth.)

Agreed. Ortiz will just comfort himself with the fact that he worked hard, took on the best, tried etc.

    Key word is comfort.

Well Erik Morales is on the card and he's fighting for a vacant title

  29. Erratic

    Erratic "Twinkle Toes" McJack

    Not really.

The most intriguing matchup was Morales-Matthyesse and Matthyesse pulled out.

Any Mayweather or Pacquiao fight not against each other (or Sergio, but that isn't happening) deserves to fail at the box office.
