Which would it be? Id LOVE to hear what was being said in Foremans corner for his fight with Ali. Im certain Foreman was not fighting to instruction - at least not if Moore had any say. For that matter, what was said in both corners at the end of rnd 1 during Foremans first clash with Frazier, too. And his fight with Lyle.
i love corners like Shane's or any corner where they say things like "you gotta throw punches" "you need to step it up, get in there and throw punches"
I like LOK's take. I would like to have vast libraries of Yoel Judah working Zab's corner and then assemble sort of a montage. It would be perhaps an hour worth of nonsense alternated with: "You gotta get in there and BAMBAMBAMBAM! " "You throw de left, then BAMABMABABAM!" "Get in there! Get in there! You gotta get in to the body and BAMBAMBAMBAM!" "Come on!" "Zab!" "You gotta get that motherfucker, BAMBAMBAMBAM!" "Come on man!" During the "BAMBAMBAM!" parts, Yoel can be seen throwing punches in the corner, as if Zab needs to see him flail about wildly to understand the brilliant nuance of what he is saying. Also give me any Baghdad Bob style corner audio, where a fighter losing decisively, bleeding profusely, breathing laboriously is told calmly by his corner "You got him. You got him. Don't worry. He's tired." That stuff is gold.
It appeared to me that George Benton cleared that up just fine in the Thrilla documentary: "Don't you stop this fight, don't you stop this motherfuckin' fight" ... I don't believe there is snowball's chance in hell that Frazier ever would have quit... he was completely nuts, especially when ti came to Ali. He still is. The official story of Futch refusing to let it continue makes the most logical sense, especially considering that Frazier never forgave him for it As for Ali's corner, I don't know... Again, it's tough to imagine he would have quit or that Dundee would have let him
Hopkins-Taylor 1 I'm not sure what Bouie Fisher was saying exactly but it had some bluesy, poetic rambling to it that reminded me of an old Howling Wolf 78 RPM record. You probably couldn't dance to it, but might be able to musically accompany it with a harmonica or washboard or something.
I'd have liked the audio in the first Ali - Liston fight,.. when Ali returned to the corner with his eyes full of sweat,... :crafty: ho ho ho,.. I think some things are better kept a secret.
Hagler vs Hearns - Either corner at the start of this fight. Douglas' corner vs Tyson - Douglas' corner after the 8th round, after Douglas was knocked down. Lewis' corner vs Vitali after the second round.
