Hagler, Leonard, Duran would have all done the same thing. Come on man. The fight had resumed...how many hugs must Mayweather give him?

    This is correct.

The Association of Boxing Commissions states in it's referee guidelines...

    Point Deduction Mechanics

    1. Secure a safe distance and assume a centered position to the boxers.
    2. Command "Time"
    Assure boxers are completely apart.
    3. Usher the offended boxer to a neutral corner.
    4. Stand in front of the offending boxer, without turning your back on the other boxer, and advise him or her of the foul. Assure the offending boxer understands the admonishment.
    5. Notify the judges of the point deduction and type of foul.
    6. Again caution the offending boxer
    7. Call time back in.
    8. Have boxing resume immediately.

    Cortez fucked up.

Mayweather is as gay as a 3 dollar bill but will always be able to beat a steroid pumping loon from the Philippines.

50 cent is apologizing to floyd right now for being the worst rapper while jacking him off in the locker room.

That headbutt attempt by Ortiz wasn't accidental....think Cintron launching himself out of the ring vs. Paul Williams...Ortiz tried the same thing right into Floyd Mayweather face...

no, nothing in his face or his body language indicated any sense of rage or lack of control... he touched gloves with no issue

Cortez pushed Ortiz to the corner said watch the headbutts then pulled his right and left hand together and said Go about 15 seconds before the KO. They just didn't show it in the replay. You have to go back and watch it in the fight.

Because, in 40 years of watching boxing I don't think that I've ever seen a more clearly intentional headbutt. The only accident is that it didn't break Mayweather's jaw.

If this is true you can count on a protest from Ortiz's camp.

I'd love to see Floyd get his first loss on a DQ. Roy Jones would be somewhere smiling.

BTW I don't care what anyone says, or that Ortiz pumped himself full of fluids and creatine, those 2 fighters were almost exactly the same size on fight night, and Floyd was just as strong.

please, Mayweather could knife the guy in the head and you'd be blowing him on here

and Carmen Basilio was a great fighter, a million times tougher than that pussy Ortiz, with a great hook that he worked overtime against better welterweights than your fucking hero

if floyd fights manny while manny is filled with roids than the manny haters have something to talk shit on, so it would be in manny fans interest to want a drug test right?

The fight was clearly back on after the point deduction. Mayweather was ready to fight and there's Ortiz with his arms out for another hug!

Mayweather obliged him initially (by coming in and not throwing any punches) but then Ortiz refused to fight and just stayed there as if expecting a kiss or something.. So what should Floyd have done? Kissed him? This is boxing, this aint Brokeback Mountain.

I hope you Floyd fans realize this just makes the Pacquiao fight less likely.

Manny: I do not wish to fight a fighter with no sportsmanship. We should be gentleman inside and outside the ring.

While it would be amusing i wouldn't want it to happen. Ortiz doesn't deserve a 'W' as much as it would great for Floyd to have an 'L'.

Mayweather would Gatti Basilio. Carmen would lose 3 pints of blood in that fight. How the hell is Carmen going to land more than 15% of his punches against Floyd? You're kidding yourself.

The biggest "punk thing" was the intentionally headbutt. At least Floyd punched.

I said look for Mayweather to punch him in the nuts after that headbutt, but he went the legal way and just KHTFO. You can't blame Mayweather for being pissed and not accepting a fake apology.

Agree. It makes the Pacman fight less likely..but not for the reason you've just given. Floyd would feel pressured to give Ortiz a rematch...just like he gave Castillo one after the (fake) controversy surrounding their first fight.

Mayweather saw an opening left by his STUPID, GUTLESS, WIMP opponent and took full advantage... an advantage that he frankly did not need to take... he could have waited for the guy to get set and gone right back to beating him up

By the way, just watched the replay and Cortez CLEARLY waves the fighters back together twice and says "Go".

I could have sworn I heard the ref say "go". But some others are telling me he didn't so thats why I asked.

However, I will say this.... Floyd HAS slowed down. The reflexes are not what they once were. And against Pacquiao, I think that would really show big time.

Ortiz was way overwhelmed by the moment, he humilliated himself and I do think that he quit. Sad because he was starting to make a fan out of me from the Berto fight.
