he hurt him just before the head-butt actually. which is why PBF retreated to the ropes.

Freitas looked more like he was trying to give Usain Bolt a sprinting lesson that night.

fuck that go back and look at round 6 of the fight against Berto and you tell me Berto did throw that shot wit KO written all over it. The punch was fast and landed right on the chin and Ortiz got up like it was a flash knockdown. Not only did he get up but he got caught wit other hard shots and answered back wit a shot of his own. The question is why was he able to just walk through Berto's shots and not the right hand that Floyd landed cause the left hook floyd threw wasn't a KO shot. Maybe just maybe Ortiz was on some shit that gave him the mental edge that he didn't otherwise have against Floyd which is why he reacted the way he reacted while in the ring. I'll Holla 5000

I think at least a half dozen people have already offered a perfectly good explanation which is that Ortiz didn't see the punch coming and was relaxed with his hands down. That makes a huge difference and is more than likely the reason he was hurt worse by that punch than any thrown by Berto.

In any case, there's so many variables when it comes to a punch landed there should be no presumption that with the naked eye we can judge which ones hurt and which don't, let alone which one hurt more than the other.

Anyone that thinks Ortiz hurt Mayweather with a punch is delusional.

Hurt/stunned. He landed, and PBF reacted. My point really was that PBF was reacting worse to Ortiz's than the other way around. That is, until the point in time Ortiz was hit when he wasn't looking.

Just to establish a baseline, was PBF hurt by Corley? Judah? Castillo? Which, if any of these three managed to hurt PBF?

Fuck that Double L dude was in the fucking ring in both instances. It wasn't like he got stole on while at church. Dude was in combat in both fights and I guarantee you his fight senses were at it's peak. Like I said the kd punch that Berto hit Ortiz wit was a fucking bomb. The right had that Floyd hit him wit was hard but not the type of punch that should have caused that type of damage. Especially seeing how he immediately got up from the Berto shot. I'll Holla 5000

He could have imediately got up from the Floyd shot but since he has McClineitis (a condition in which a boxer's guts are missing) he stayed down and then hugged and kissed Floyd postfight

LOL.. Mayweather was never even close to being stunned. I've watched the fight like 4 times now and am just amazed at how easily Mayweather made him miss in close quarters.

Even in the last sequence along the ropes in which Mayweather was supposedly "STUNNED" he managed to make Ortiz miss with every shot except for the headbutt.

And trust me, I am far from being a Mayweather fan. I loathe guys that don't make big fights. But this was the typical recent Mayweather fight wherein his shots were perfectly accurate and he was absolutely unfazed by his opponent's aggression. Even when Ortiz was at his most aggressive, Floyd was relaxed, stayed in the pocket and made Ortiz miss like Ray Charles swinging at a Nolan Ryan fastball.

By the way, for a baseline, Mosley hurt/stunned Mayweather. Ortiz did not even come within a light year of hurting Mayweather to that degree.

The proof is really in the reaction of Ortiz after the fight. He didn't protest because he knew he wasn't getting to Mayweather or bothering him in the least. As I said, claiming anything else is either delusional or motivated by being a completely Mayweather hater.

Ortiz didn't want to deal with Mayweather anymore. It was only going to get worse. He was too happy with the result, he knew a few fools like double L would buy his crap and the kid doesn't ask for more.

Ya'll can't tell me that the 1-2 Floyd landed was harder then the single right hand Berto landed. Whether his hands were down or not. That was a bomb and Ortiz ate that shit up like it wasn't nothing. I'll Holla 5000

Have you ever boxed? A shot you cant see hurts more than a shot you do. Even if Berto's punch was harder. So what? He wasn't expecting floyds. Loose jaw and not focusing. It can knock anyone out.

So are you agreeing that Berto's shot appeared to be harder? Cause that punch damn near snapped Ortiz's head off his shoulders. And lemme say this if Ortiz seen Berto's punch coming he prolly wouldn't have gotten smashed like he did. I ain't never boxed but you better believe I've been hit a lot harder by bigger faster stronger guys when not looking. Don't forget I played football damn near my entire life. I'll Holla 5000

The Floyd punch looked a bit harder and Ortiz's head snapped back harder from it. Also Berto landed a short hook at close range without full extension on his arm. Floyd landed two free punches on a guy who wasn't even looking. I don't care how many times you've been blind sided by tackles from stronger guys, there is noway you're going to convince me that getting punched with one shot while you're in a fight and throwing your own punch is going to be on the same level as getting sucker punched by two free shots when you also happen to not be looking. Plus Floyd had full extension on that second shot and he threw it from distance with snap. Ortiz' head snapped back way more from Floyd's punch then he did from Berto's and it looked like the slightly harder punch of the two.

Also if you look at the slow mo of both shots Berto's punch kind of turns Ortiz' head towards his shoulder which kind of nullify's the concussive force, whereas with Floyd's punch Ortiz' head snaps all the way back which makes it more concussive. You have to take more into it then just one punch looked harder than the other so it should have hurt more.

So once again, no I don't think Ortiz was on roids against Berto which he had to come off of against Floyd. I also don't think he quit. I think he was quite simply and in the words of Chris Tucker "knocked the fuck out." Even if he was on roids there's no guarantee it would have made any difference in how he reacted to either guys punch.
