Nope, there just isn't really a place for them re this issue, not if you're gonna flat out lie about what they would or wouldn't have done. How the fugg does he know.
    :bears:
Did I lie? Did Ray not lose to a light weight? Did Hagler not lose to a washed up, career WW? Was Ali not an idiot at times during his career?. Do u cats not feel that Floyd can only repay what he 'owes' to boxing by going to catch case of Parkinsons, so that he too might enjoy the same reverence as Muhammad from a bunch of internet losers like yourselves? Sure u do.

yes Duran would have jumped all over him as soon as the ref said "time in"

someone count how many seconds Floyd waited after "time in" was said and he decided it was a good time to start fighting....REED wrote that this is remorseless and showing a killer instinct :dunno:

I agree with that. It's the sneakyness that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. He half went to hug Ortiz first, he should have just cracked him straight away, as soon as doddery old Cortez said go.

agreed, I would have applauded him for doing so, the headbutt was as cheap as it gets... Esuebio Pedroza and Wilfredo Gomez would cringe at it

Incorrect. If you were describing Sly this way, you would be on target, but REED has criticized Mayweather many, many times...and even RJJ from time to time.

I can just see both of them both being startled by the cheapness of the head butt and then giving Ortiz the "I'm not worthy" bow.

I am not a blind nuthugger. I criticize when appropriate. In fact I've criticized Roy Jones a great deal and I'm a bigger fan of his.

It's just that Floyd's ring abilities are beyond criticsm at the moment plus he's shown desire within the ring. His out o fthe ring antics are worthy of much criticism but I'm not on here to discuss soap opera....just boxing.

Ortiz deserved the wake-up left hook for the pathetic obsequiousness first of all then the full knock out for the stupidity of his reaction to it. Somebody that clueless & weak minded doesn't belong in a championship ring.....even his attempts at cheating was inept & dilettante.

Random chode i think. I'm for banning him early and saving us all the boredom of the process running it's course.

No one here, BWJ included, seems to have anything but great things to say about Mayweather's skills and his greatness as a fighter

The criticism, boxing related, is of facing opposition recently that simple should not be in the ring with him all the while seeming hellbent on not fighting the guy who would gain him universal respect once and for all

So in the absence of a Pacquiao fight materializing do you suggest that he fights..NO ONE?

That's my point. Ortiz was among teh best of the available opposition at 147lbs.

That's the thing NOTHING except this fight is acceptable for either of them. Pac will get even less credit from me for beating Marquez than Floyd does for Ortiz. Everything's fucking irrelevant until they fight each other.

It's just like Ross & Rachel dating other people in friends, ya dig

Agreed, he should just be banned now. He doesn't even add entertainment value.

Hahah, yeah that is very true. Even the attempt at cheating was blatant to the point of complete patheticness.

So blatant, and so strange was his reaction afterwards and pleasure of getting KO'd, I can't help but think the headbutt really was just part of him getting out of the fight, quitting basically. I think he got what he wanted.

Yep. I've praised Mayweather's skills and I have never said he isn't a great fighter. But it hurts my head to see him endlessly running his mouth about being the best fighter in the world while at the same time refusing to make a real effort at making the fight with the one opponent that would cement that claim and would also go a long way toward his all time status.

And what's even worse is that it's a fight that I've always thought Mayweather would win. But I get the feeling he is trying to pull a Leonard-Hearns II where Leonard waited for Hearns' slip to show before making that fight happen.

But what about now? We can't change the past and so must let it go. I think his decision to retire after beating Oscar at 154lbs was a fair one. It was the pinacle of his career in his 5th weight class...so why not hang it up. Cotto and Margarito were only relevant after he retired...which made them irrelevant at that time obviously.

That's cool. But they shoul dboth remain active in the absence of being able to do the deal. And btw the way I RIP Floyd often as well. I'm as annoyed as the next man about his relative inactivity in the last 5 years.

    Ortiz you mean?

I get what you're saying though. If you're going to be a dirty fighter, embrace it, become it, accept it.

Can you imagine if Abner Mares hugged Joseph Agbeko every time he low blowed him?

That would have been some straight to DVD, back of the video store, fetish type material right there.

Yes...like you have done regarding the ref in Douglas-Tyson.

Dude...sometimes you make it way too easy...

We all (you, me and oh...EVERYONE else here) bring up fights and events from the past and criticize the folks involved. Why should Floyd get a pass?

One of my guilty boxing pleasures is admiration for SMART offensive cheating. Guys who can whack a guy's hips, land sneaky elbows and kidney shots on the blind side, etc. Pedroza, Duran, Hopkins etc. Only the smartest/craftiest/most self-possessed fighters can consistently get away with it.

If they're at one end of a spectrum, Ortiz doesn't even register at the other end of it.
