    No way.

I agree that Pacquiao isn't a true puncher at 147, but he definitely hits harder than Floyd. Floyd hit Shane with some pretty meaty shots and they did nothing. When Pacquiao first hit Shane clean, he went down, looked shocked, then ran like a bitch for the rest of the fight.

He knocked Cotto down with single punches and put him in survival mode.

Even iron chinned plasterito was rattled and looked surprised after getting hit by Manny, but continued coming forwards because well, that's all he does.

I think you're really underrating his power at 147. He happened to fight 3 VERY tough guys there, Clottey, Plasterito and Mosley, 2 of which were in survival mode, which perhaps gives a false impression of his power.

While not a proper power puncher at WW, I have no doubt he still has enough power to hurt almost anyone with single punches, and hits harder than Floyd for sure.

Hmmm...I see you are still living up to that childish M.O. of yours. It's good to see you are still hard at work toward your goal of making this forum a little worse each time you post something.

Exactly...How anyone could think otherwise is beyond me.

If Top Rank gets Bradley (and Arum wants to sign him) that's absolutely the next fight for Manny.

I can't see Floyd going to England to fight Khoward.

I agree with what you've said. At best Manny vs Floyd September 2012.

I'd agree with this Mosley said Manny hit him with a punch that went 6 inches and it hurt him. He said he's never felt power like that...which says something considering Shane sparred with virtually everyone including light heavies when he was a lightweight.

Also, as you age punches tend to hurt more.

But if you ask him who punched harder I'm sure he'd say Manny. I believe Shane's exact comment was "I've never felt power like that."

  9. What would Tony Tubbs say if someone asked him:

"Who hit harder, Bowe or Tyson?"

What would Holyfield say in response to the same question?

I'm not saying I disagree, but i'll make the perennial point - fighters are full of shit on that particular question.

I think the fights at 147 demonstrate conclusively Pacquiao is definitely a puncher at the weight.

Unquestionably more formidable in raw power than Mayweather. Im surprised this is splitting the board.

Seeing that Bowe KO'd Holyfield it's safe to say he'd say Bowe.

    Silly example wouldn't you say?

AGREED. Many fighters' comments about the opposition's power are self-serving.

  14. But that's my point.

Tubbs would say Tyson as Tyson destroyed Tubbs in 2 rounds and Bowe went the distance (left and death) with him.

I guarantee Tubbs would say it was James Smith - he beat him. Tyson and Bowe both either caught him on an off day or landed lucky shots.

I think it's clear that Manny hits harder than Floyd at ww (or any weight), but I agree.

I'd say the best indicator is in their comparable fights...who scored the most knockdowns.

Floyd knocked Hatton down what...twice? Even in that Ricky said Floyd doesn't hit hard...just caught him right.

Manny knocked him down once then put him out cold.

Marquez...Floyd zero knockdowns...Manny TBD (assuming you don't count the previous four knockdowns)

Mosley...Floyd -zero, Manny one (though you discount Mosley's assertion Manny hits harder

DLH - Neither knocked him down but Manny stopped him, Floyd went the distance. Then again...you'll discount Oscar saying Floyd doesn't hit hard but Manny does.

It's a fruitless argument with you Sly...probably best if you'd stay out of the thread (and you created it). Doesn't matter what guys who fought the two have said, the knockdown records and results aren't important...all that matters is your opinion which trumps the facts.

    I can.

That fight would be huge business and Floyd knows it. The guy only had to have his eyes open during the Peacock gym training sessions to see how much money he could make from a fight over here. The place was overflowing with people. He keeps saying he wants to fight here, and a Khan fight makes perfect sense. Plus he can demand a huge chunk of UK PPV. Golden Boy have had this one lined up for ages man.

  22. Are you certain about that?

  23. Jake

Yeah Floyd dropped Marquez twice... but the point still stands that Manny is the harder puncher. I'm not sure how that even became a debate.

I thought it was once too... :dunno:

Anyway, I'm with the pactards :shit: here. I think Floyd hits a lot harder than he is often given credit for, but Manny is a ferocious hitter; perhaps not as much as he was at the lower weights but near on everyone bar the truly iron chinned he has hurt/dropped/KTFO

It was definitely only the once. Muzse's memory just let him down again.

I think Manny and Floyd are both reasonably big hitters, except Mannys power is emphasised more as he is such an offensive machine and he throws more punches. I think they both hit about the same to be honest. Manny hurts guys through speed and bewilderment from the AMOUNT of punches coming at once. Floyd hurts guys by throwing solid, accurate, well disguised shots whenever the opponent takes a wrong step. I wouldn't say one has a definitive edge over the other though.

As usual, Pacquiao is getting a little too much credit for his speed, angles & volume, & not quite enough for his raw hitting power --- which is still a force at 147.

To set two records straight, Hatton was down three times, not two, against Pacquiao, & Mayweather had Marquez hitting the deck once.
