    Duran > Floyd. The end.

  2. Give me some examples of Duran's toughness and triumph over adversity.

I remember he had a little adversity against Leonard and Hearns and I don't recall the truimph.

When was Duran low blowed and in pain or butted or cut or beaten up or had broken hands and came back to win? Not saying this hasn't happened but please refresh my memory so that I may join you on the revered Duran is tough as nails bandwagon.

    seriously?

    Watch DeJesus II

for an old man version, watch Barkley... he was floored in the Dejesus fight and hurt in both fights and came back to win

Is it your position that Duran never won a tough fight??? really??? you don't think Montreal 1980 was a draining fight?

Duran was never head butted by a young hungry lion.

  6. :giggle:

Give me examples of Duran's ability to rise above adversity and get the win the way Floyd has shown continually

Floyd's TOUGHNESS is the most underrated ability in boxing. Just because his talents and skills are sublime people assume he's a pussy.

Floyd gets buckled by Mosley and has the man retreating by the end of the round.

Floyd gets e-honda headbutted and where most fighters would lie down and roll all ove rthe canvas and complain that they can't continue...Floyd shakes it off, accepts the hugs and proceeds to knock his opponent the fuck out.

Floyd has a bum shoulder that he has to protect by UNcharacteristically switching to southpaw..and still goes toe to toe with Castillo and prevails.

Floyd beats a man with TWO damaged hands.

Give me some Duran examples of toughness or shut the fuck up.

Duran wasn't just tough because he's latino and looks like a wild animal with his beard and gresy hair flying all over the place.

When has he risen from the kind of adversity that I've mentioned with Floyd above and prevailed?

he had the chance against Hearns and failed miserably for example..

To be fair I'm not sure Duran ever faced young, hungry crap like Ortiz so we don't know how he'd deal with it.

We especially don't know how he'd take being headbutted by young hungry crap.

  8. Not saying he wasn't in a tough fight. Obviously he's been in tough fights. But show me where he was butted hard, or broken hands, or hurt badly and came back to win.

that's all. Very simple for a tough guy.

  10. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

There was no adversity. There was a headbutt by a frustrated, losing fighter. There was violence to be escalated and there was desperation & fear.

You might as well give Duran a napkin, knife and fork.

  11. Hut*Hut

    Strong lion crap!

  12. mexican wedding shirt

That's about the gist of it.

    Overcome adversity

Floyd took a blatant headbutt from young, hungry crap who was looking for a way out of the fight, then KO'd him with a cheap shot.

There was no adversity to overcome.

  13. Give me an example. ONE! ONE! Prove the manly Duran theory. Like I said sayign you're gonna bang Leonard's wife and having greasy hair and a big busy beard isn't enough evidence of toughness. Scowling at Hagler, Beating Leonard in an inside fight or prevailing over useless Barkley (in a fight that looked to belong to Iran anyway) isn't evidence either.

When has he truimphed over adversity, Hurt badly and come back to win. Injured? Disgracfully fouled with a damaging foul.

Hagler showed it against Hearns (the cut), Leonard showed it against many fighters (notable Hearns as well), Marciano had his nose split, Roy Jones beat telesco with one hand.

    Show me Duran's triumphs?

    SHOW THEM TO ME!!!

    true

if Ortiz got under Floyd's skin by doing nothing then... :jaw:

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

How 'bout getting off the canvas twice to stop a man who'd previously beaten him. (a vastly better fighter than FLoyd has ever faced).

  16. I'll accept that.

But we assume that Duran is so tough that if someone headbutted him flagrantly he would come back and punish him. When did Duran do anything like that?

I saw Hearns butchering him early in the first round and Duran all but quit trying to win at that moment. I saw a little frustration with Leonard and he quit.

But suddenly y'all are suggesting hat if someone viciously butted Duran he would respond immediately with violence. Based on what example?

Just curious. I'm sure it's out there...I just can't recall it at the moment.

  17. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

Well yeah, we're talking about a fight against a hopelessly overmatched opponent though. I mean, if Pac is winning against Floyd then headbutts him, Floyd won't have the same opportunity to show 'killer instinct' or respond to it so emphatically. He was against a guy he could beat up at will.

I'm talking about Duran in a comparable situation. Say if Davey Moore headbutted him.

    adversity???

To me facing adversity is stepping into the ring with the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Wilfred Benitez.....

Between those 4 you have some of the greatest fighters ever....some of the most skilled fighters ever....a legit TOP 10 all timer in Leonard...TOP 20-30 in Hagler...

Adversity is stepping into the ring.....with a better than 50% chance that you might lose....adversity is stepping into the RING against PACQUIAO.....

anyone here think that ROBERTO DURAN would have shamelessly duck Pacquiao..the way Mayweather has?...HELL NO...

He was in there with guys like DeJesus, Palomino, Leonard, Buchanan and he won, yet you are questioning his toughness??

Are you seriously suggesting that Victor Ortiz would have discouraged him???

The only problem is he was calculated at the precise moment the dummy had his hands down.

Way close to a bitch move. Put it this way...if it were a street fight he pulled a bitch move.

Oh, so now Barkley is USELESS??? the same guy you use CONSTANTLY to blow Michael Nunn and James Toney is now USELESS??? FASCINATING turn of events there

How the fuck are you going to bring up Roy Jones against a BUM like David Telesco here with a straight face? Jones could have won that bullshit with two broken hands... that would be like me saying Duran "overcame" Lou Bizzaro refusing to fight and running every second of every round by not getting frustrated and catching him enough to knock him unconscious

Victor Ortiz wouldn't have butted Duran because he would be too busy shitting himself

  24. So I take it that you have ZERO examples. Cool. That's what I thought.

Floyd was in the ring with "tough guys" like Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Gatti..steel shinned guys like De La Hoya, Mosley and won. So winning over tough guys by itself doesn't prove mettle. Can a guy win when he faces adversity? That's the real question.

I'm not suggesting Ortiz would have discouraged Duran..and you KNOW I'm not saying that (you're just using that as a convenient distraction)...I'm saying that I can't think of one example where Duran has faced any sort of adversity and come back to win.

I remember Duran shitting his pants (proverbially) against Hearns and (literally) against Leonard. :atu:

Yeah he got lucky with a close win against Barkley...the same Barkley that was wiped out by Benn in one round. Duran was tough.

Latino's that talk shit and have sweaty dense hair and shit are tough by default I guess....

  25. btw..it may seem like it...but I'm not actually questioning Duran's toughness.

He was tough fo sho. But people are acting like he's Floyd tough..or Holyfield tough or Leonard/Hagler tough. Acting like you don't dare headbutt or foul Duran or else the Panamanian TITAN would kill you. You don't dare put your arms on him at a press conference or Hulk junior would dismantle you there and then.

    The legend of Duran!

I haven't seen evidence of this.

    Btw....135,140 or 147, Floyd dismantles Duran..but I digress...

Duran is tougher than Floyd, because he had the guts to fight top flight opponents and bigger opponents.

Wait till Floyd fights the middleweight Martinez (let alone Hagler), then we'll see how tough he is compared to Duran.
