Possibly, possibly. I think Pardew has a bit about him- he's no worse than Redknapp, for sure, and his square-off with Wenger a few years back {something else we'll probably have to tell Caligula about} shows he's a ballsy sort who feels entitled to a win now and then. That said the underlying pathology at Newcastle is sell-to-buy, and slash the wage bill at all costs. We know where that leads.

Big test for Liverpool tomorrow. They've had their few defeats, granted, there were excuses, shit refereeing etc, but they have to perform {if not win} vs Exeter and they have to beat Wolves out of sight. If they can get a result in each of their next three games, then Dalglish passes a test of sorts.

    Same rules for everyone. :nono:

Pardew isn't doing as bad as I thought he would.

Pardew does have a pedigree. He took a West Ham team with fuck all spending power into an FA Cup final which they probably would have won but for Gerrard. He also racked up big wins over teams like Arsenal and United in days of yore. He's been around and he has form as a former Palace player too, much like Coppell had at United. I'd rank him well above Redknapp, Curbishley. In fact Curbishley needs to fuck off right now and bring me a large pims.

I told you guys in the previous premier league thread that Pardew would do better than people thought.

He is a total puppet. He jumps when and as high as the FCB tells him. He has no say in players in or out and simply picks a team from the players left to him by the FCB.

If he had any self worth, he'd run a fucking mile from us. He's only here because he has won the fucking lottery getting the NUFC gig.

    He is shit.

Again- Newcastle finished LOWER in last years table than they were when Hughton was sacked. Hughton was sacked with NUFC in 11th place- the lowest place we occupied since the first embers of the season.

I thought Roy Hodgson was shit. In fact I knew he was shit. But I never blamed him for taking the job. If you don't take it, somebody else will.

Not sure i I appreciate the stick that Heurelho Gomes is getting from the BBC, since when did it become their remit??

and this was preceded last night by a particularly odd review of a penalty shootout:

Yes.....and its been like that for some time now, with goals being reported as scored that never actually happened. I must get Petre on the case.

As for the Gomes thing...the writer basically says that Gomes kept them in it with a 1 vs 1 save in Extra Time.

Then he says Gomes was shite during the penalties....going the wrong way "every time"...which, you know, is usually what 90% of keepers do, even during shootouts.

I mean, it seems that the Stoke keeper didn't get near any of them till the 7th one.

Idiots. I hate shite journalism and I hate picking on players.

    a sort of UVF/UDA skirmish, got it:clapagain:

Hey Irish, since I live in America and the news never has anything to say about Ireland outside of the economic stuff, I am forced to rely on Google News entirely to follow anything happening there or in the North... But talking to you about Norris got me thinking about something I'd meant to ask you about earlier... What's with this whole "Reform" stuff about joining the commonwealth? Obviously, I find the idea repulsive, but I wonder what YOU think... also, I have a difficult time figuring out what level of support it has throughout the country, because I am inevitably sifting through various Newspaper Websites with each having their subtle biases... Is this a realistic possibility??? I personally hope not, but I'd like to get your view from the trenches... you can PM me if you don't feel like responding here in the football thread

The football thread generally wafts between a variety of topics.....I am assuming this Commonwealth idea is being hefted as part of some BS "alternative" to the EU, which the Irish now see as a bad idea, seeing as we took all their money, borrowed some more, now refuse to, or can't, pay any of it back.

We get Chelsea at home for the 4th round of the Carling Cup.

The four remaining championship clubs were all drawn against each other.
