Perhaps to a degree, but it's not easy to hit with power when your feet aren't firmly planted. As is often said the punch you don't see coming is the one that hurts you. I don't think anybody disputes that, but a guy like Meldrick Taylor would have a much higher KO percentage if he had Pacquiao's power.

    What a surprise...

    "I don't need Pacquiao. Where was Pacquiao in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 when I was dominating the game?

"He never asked me (for a fight) when I was in my twenties or when I was in my teens."

If Floyd died in a car crash I would crack a cider, butter a scone and sigh contentedly.

Why? We'd be robbed of the biggest non-heavyweight fight in history.

You're not a boxing fan, William Wallace! :nono:

All time greats challenge themselves against the best of their contemporaries.

    Floyd, instead, says things like:

    "I don't need Pacquiao. Where was Pacquiao in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 when I was dominating the game?

"He never asked me (for a fight) when I was in my twenties or when I was in my teens."

For me the only fighters arguably or actually better than Floyd are:

    Ali
    Robinson
    Jones
    Duran
    Armstrong
    Pep
    Whitaker

I may have forgotten 1 or 2 for the time being but no more than 10 at most. Objectively that is. Floyd is an absolute genius in that ring. Ridiculous talent. I mean..how many fighters can be beating down a guy in a title fight while they are having a conversation with the announcers?

20 such guys? You trying to tell me that you can name 20 guys as dominant as Floyd (42 fight streak) with better opposition as well. Please share with me.

    Ray Leonard

    Monzon

just like that, we have ten guys without breaking a sweat

only a lunatic would think it is an insult to "only" be one of the top 20-30 greatest fighetrs EVER

42 fights... Archie Moore, Pep, Robinson, Charles, they had that many in 4 years... if you are hung up on the numbers

    Robinson was 128-1-1, Pep 135-1-1

Wilfredo Gomez did just that against LaPorte... talking to announcers AND Hector Camacho at ringside... what's your point?

It's just a big leap of faith in your own judgement considering what we've seen Floyd measured against in the ring. I think that's the key point.

And for that reason I won't even try to answer who's better than Floyd or not (since it's only speculation) but I'd be pretty comfortable naming plenty fighters I suspect would have been as dominant as Floyd against the standard of guys he's beaten. Hell, a prime De la Hoya for one.

Put Floyd in the 1940s where, as a GOOD Black fighter, he's got to face VERY DIFFICULT opposition a dozen times per year... you think he's not going to lose some fights here and there?? he'd still be an all-time great, but he'd have a dozen losses sprinkled out over 10 years with 90 wins or whatever... same as Archie or Ezzard or Sandy Saddler... that doesn't mean he isn't awesome, just puts W/L in perspective

Sly isn't very well versed on boxing history. He's only focused on what's immediately in front of his face.

Once Floyd is broke, comes back loses a few fights Sly will be on to the next one completely forgetting how badly he wanted a spot next to Floyd's nuts. We've already witnessed this with Roy Jones.

Let's be real, Sly's a guy who thinks Ray Robinson is overrated and Treach from Naughty By Nature is one of the five greatest rappers of all time. This ALONE disqualifies his opinion on all things related and unrelated to boxing.
