You're right actually. The night just becomes all about coke and me. Since Calzaghe is already all about me I'm guessing he'd retract a holon further and the night would become all about coke and his left forearm or new jacket.

Ecstasy would probably make him a bearable human being though.

Coke is a horrible, horrible drug. It's all about the bud-ding.

Cdogg - Floyd, Manny and RJJ are on their own level. Hopkins isn't quite on it, and whatever level B-Hop is on, Calzaghe shares the same stage. The "Calzaghe only won because of superior fitness and workrate" angle is bullshit. Joe was no spring chicken himself, and it's not his fault Bernard punked out when they had the opportunity to fight each other in their primes. He would always have beaten Hopkins imo, and the fight they did have was NOT THAT CLOSE. Don't let Adelaide Byrd sway you, it was uncomfortable but Calzaghe won clearly. If it was all about workrate and fitness then Pascal would have beat the fuck out of Hopkins. Calzaghe was class, get over it.

Hopkins was far older, ring-wise, than Calzaghe

Hopkins actually beat some good fighters, Calzaghe beat nobody, unless you believe Kessler is some beast

Anyone who thinks Calzaghe is one of the 50 greatest fighters of all time is certifiably crazy

the list of guys who could comfortably weigh-in between 165-175 who would beat him is a LONG ONE

If you think crudely out-hustling a 43 year old man proves anything greatness wise - except perhaps that you're better than Jean Pascal and at least as good as Jermain Taylor, you're beyond talking to, my crazy brained friend.

I agree Calzaghe is a bit below the absolute top level and guys like Manny, Jones or Leonard, but he is definitely close to them and equal with the second-level guys such as Oscar, Duran etc

And he'd beat the shit out of Ricky Hatton & Juan Manual Marquez, too. What does it all meaaaaaaaan!?:scared:

Well it means Calzaghe beat a better fighter than Hopkins did but will get less credit because the opponent didn't have the same vomit inducing hype around him

I'm no Felix Trinidad fan but saying MIKEL KESSLER is better than him is a step too far.

Of course it is. "Viva Denmark!" isn't very catchy.

So basically you're saying Kessler would only beat him because he's bigger? Even though the talk was of Tito beating Hopkins and then going up to 175 to take on Jones? And if he's too big for him why does Hopkins get so much credit for beating a blown up welterweight?

  15. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

Because he was still a very good middleweight as other fights proved.

You're really going to use William Joppy to prop up Tito as a credible middleweight opponent?

    Really?

  17. I dunno...

While I admit that Calzaghe's level of opposition leaves a lot to be desired...his talents are undeniable. And in beating Eubank and Hopkins (and Kessler) he's proven that his unbeaten record isn't just because he fought bums. The dude was a very very talented individual. That workrate was ridiculous and he never slowed down. He was like a bigger pacquiao minus the power but with better defense and ring smarts.

Joes defence was definitely underrated, no doubt

  19. Yup..and his ring generalship. the dude was GOOD. I mean he was a black slickster in a white man's body! :giggle:

Sly, Slice: you are wasting your time. The Celtic alliance long ago decided that Calzaghe was shite, regardless of whatever logic you throw at them. Believe me, I tried. All that happens is that you end up becoming rather annoyed at two genuinely plesant chaps, so do as I do and let them have their fun. It's easier that way.

You're right Feebs, it's like watching two friends become heroin addicts, at some point you just have to let go and accept they can't be helped :(

We're here for you guys, if you decide to turn your lives around. You're still my friends

When a split decision over a 43 year old man you were perfect stylistic cryptonite for is your career best win, you haven't had a great career.

Calzaghe was a very good champion. A Winky Wright/Marco Barrera level champion. When i say he sucked I mean it only relative to the hype from you crazy people - duped by the cynical project that was his entire career path. :scared2:

Be under no illusions, you cider slurping imp; I do not agree with your position. It is simply for the sake of tranquility that I no longer discuss a certain J. Calzaghe with either you or Mister Doggy

In Hopkins MW reign, he beat exactly ONE dangerous middleweight. And that was Glen bloody Johnson.
