No. I'm suggesting that Pacquiao can counter-punch. And that D&M should resist his urge to pigeon-hole Pacquiao as simply an offensive fighter who can't counter-punch.

Wow, there's more wishful thinking going around here than at the make a wish foundation.

If Josh Clottey was able to touch Mannys piehole as often as he did, Floyd will batter him.

    Floyd has something to prove.

I agree that Floyd will batter Pac, but I can't really see using the Clottey fight as supporting evidence for it. I can't even recall Clottey throwing punches in that fight, let alone landing them.

I think it was round 6. You'll have to watch it in slow motion to catch it but Clottey threw a jab.

What's sad is that only 39% of the posters here know boxing. :finger:

Max Kellerman saw a lot of punches landed. So there were a lot of punches landed. Period.

Interesting thread. Once upon a time Manny Pac was invincible in most match ups, now it seems that PBF cant lose. WTF. You bunch of Flomos/Pactards!:giggle:

I'm really surprised by all the people picking Pacquiao. He seems tailor-made for Floyd to me. I predict some of these opinions will change after we see how he does against an old, fat Marquez.

D&M is sold on PBF's act. I'm not. And believe me. It is an act. If it weren't, he'd have fought Pacquiao already. The guy is a fake.

He DID seem that way to me... but (barring Pacquiao looking especially vulnerable against JMM) Floyd appears noticeably slower to me than before, his timing a little off... that is what swayed my pick... but again it's only a very slight lean towards Pacquiao

The poll doesn't provide for any nuance... it's just Pac or Floyd and nothing else, that is part of the problem with just using the poll numbers (as Sly, who would pick Floyd over both Sugar Rays, calling into question his sanity, has done)

    1. In what sense is he tailor-made for Floyd?
    2. If he is, why won't PBF fight him? Seriously.
    3. Who, in your opinion, is not tailor-made for Floyd?

The lack of nuance is what makes it a useful poll. Is anyone really interested in a long list of hedges from posters afraid they might be wrong?

    Why lie?

I pick Floyd over both in a P4P head to head sense. But since this type of discussion is frowned upon on this forum...I cease and desist. In terms of head to head at 147lbs I pick both Sugar Rays to beat him.

Arum told me that to proceed with Pac-May, Floyd has to resolve his pending legal issues. (Don't kill the messenger).... #boxing

If Pacquiao agreed (in contract, not just in an interview) to all of Floyd's demands, Floyd would probably just come up with some other roadblock. And if Floyd actually eased up on his demands, Arum would probably come up with a roadblock.

They're just milking the public for as much as they can..people still pay to see Floyd and Manny against much easier opposition.

    hmmmmm

no? a dozen losses? wo wouldve beat him in the 40s around his weight? let alone 3 or more guys. i dont think sandy saddler or archie moore are comparable to floyd mayweather. those were fighters content with losing to mediocre opposition.

moore and saddler were handled by several below par opponents near their relative prime.

Ike Williams would down a few quarter-pounder and give Floyd all hell.

What was left of Floyd would get knocked out 6 weeks later by just about any of 20 different guys.

honestly, man, your inability to contemplate what happens to guys when they fight 15 times a year without 3 months to prepare for each guy is a major stumbling block to your understanding of pretty much anything that happened prior to 1990... which is why you think Angel Manfredy was better than Jose Luis Ramirez and Buddy McGirt

You and your brother should write a history book where every fighter born prior to 1970 not named Duran or Monzon sucks balls but those two magically remain unbeatable in hypothetical matchups because they are in color and the two of you have chosen to like them
