Musze, I'm sure you've previously picked Pacquiao over Floyd no?

What makes you think Floyd wins?

I've always thought Floyd beats Manny. I'm tired of talking about it until it's here and I'm tired of fans on both sides to be honest. You know I like playing devils advocate (with floydidiots and Pactards alike) but if you'd ask me in a side convo I would have said I'd pick mayweather.

I've always thought manny comes in too square and is suceptible to the same straight rights Ortiz got hit with. The difference being manny can counter floyd if he gets within range.

I'm mot completely sold on Manny getting in close enough to effectively apply pressure and catch Floyd. I can see floyd dominating then getting put to sleep by a single shot...but in a boxing match...manny fights in a rhythmn floyd can easily time and prevent manny from coming in on him.

Floyd will be taller and have a significant reach advantage.

I didn't think floyd looked that great to be honest. Not that he looked bad, he looked like he lost a little bit speed wise...still faster than other guys but not what he was. he's 34...that's no crime.

Also, I didn't think he was a tight as he normally is defensively. Ortiz caught him in the 4th round because he moved straight back and it was odd, it's almost as though he stood straight up in the process. Normally he doesn't allow himself pushed back against the ropes.

Also note in the 4th how ortiz caught him with a good right hook when floyd leaned into it. Normally he's not that sloppy defensively but against a southpaw he's naturally inclined to lean into shots.

Lastly, if Manny doesn't stand in front of him and uses some semblance of movement Floyd's standing in to walk him down works to manny's favor. The one thing Ortiz didn't do enough of...and what I've always said beats that style...when you see a guy leaning over (to his right) step behind him....to your right. When he comes out of that lean there's no shot or if the guy throws one it's not full power because he's out of position...when he stands up you've got him lined up for a right hook.

Go back and watch Roy Jones vs James Toney. Mind you...Jones at that time was a phenom and is an orthodox fighter but he was able to completely neutralize Toney by doing the same thing. For a southpaw that movement is natural which is why Floyd's gotten touched up by Judah and Corley previously.

If anything...any defensive slippage on floyd's end makes it a better fight...more action...not one sided as I'd thought.

I think Floyd wins a competitive fight, always have, but you really thought it was going to a be a blowout? Less competitive than fights like Pac-DLH/Hatton and Lewis-Tyson?

    Yep.

I saw Manny get outboxed by Morales. I've seen Manny have trouble with marquez. Floyd is superior in every facet of the game over both of those guys. Manny has gotten better but it wouldn't be enough to get him over the hump against Floyd.

I think he has a better shot now with Floyd's inactivity.

I can't see him outboxing Floyd...knocking him out...yes...outboxing no. If he tries to wait and counter floyd he gets fucked up.

Funny how Morales suddenly couldn't, "out-box" Manny when Manny wasn't rquired to wear the pillowy Japanese gloves he was required to wear in the first fight because his promoter was an idiot.

Their first fight was Erik's last great stand for a while Don't forget he lost to Zahir Raheem in his "tune up" for the Pacquiao rematch.

Pac does not have one punch KO power. It takes some serious combos for him to stop anyone. Floyd won't get tagged too frequently to suffer the same fate as Cotto or DLH. Plus Floyd never had trouble with smaller opponents. He will cross him at will.

I agree,, Pac is strong but he is a smaller guy

Floyd was rocking Shane in there and looked to have more snap on his shots..
Pac is much smaller and will get overpowered AND outboxed

this is a no win for Pac and they know it.. that's why they are beating around the bush

Floyd's inactivity and penchant for returning to the ring only when he needs money leads one to believe he's the one stalling.

Manny's at least an active fighter...Floyd's infrequent appearances will catch up with him. It's happened to far greater fighters than himself and far worse ones than him.

In fact, I was watching Leonard vs Terry Norris just this morning. I needed something to make me happy...reminded me of Oscar getting his ass handed to him. The I watched the tail end of Leonard vs Camacho.

    Both heartwarmng stories.

I look forward to adding similar Floyd fights to my collection.

Apparently ortiz and his fishnet adorned promoter embarrassed themselves on a conf call today crying and clamouring for a rematch

PBF only fights fighters promoted by GBP. Thus, his promoter is GBP.

I think Golden Shower would do that rematch before sacrificing Khoward to Floyd.

I still find it hard to believe they'll do business with Arum anytime soon.

But if Floyd winds up in jail (and he won't) would be a moot point.

I'm listening to it and it is pretty embarrassing.

    http://www.fighthype.com/media/audio/conferencecalls/OrtizConferenceCall09262011.mp3

Ortiz going from claiming he was pulled into Mayweather on the headbutt to saying it was retaliation on the elbows.

He also said "Mayweather hits like a girl" and that "in the 3rd and 4th, it was all me".

Just skimmed through it. Oscar crying, claiming Ortiz was coming on strong, we were robbed of a great fight, that no opponent he ever faced would've done the same thing.

    This is bullshit controversy.

Both guys are golden shower fighters...I fully expect a rematch which due to the ending will be bigger than the first. We've seen this show in 1991 when it was called Tyson vs Rudduck I & II.

    Hmmm...

Now that I think of it..I hope that's EXACTLY what happens. Tyson was lined up to fight Holyfield that fall but "injured" his ribs in training and the fight was postponed and they fought post-prison.

Shortly after the Rudduck match that June, Tyson and Washington "hooked up" in Indianapolis.

Floyd still has his legal cases pending (and it says here he will walk...Vegas badly needs the revenue) and it's possible his ass heads off to jail before getting in another fight.

    One can only hope.

Floyd will fight Pacquiao next, after the latter squeezes past Marquez with another controversial decision.

As badly as Ortiz wants a rematch, I'm sure PBF would love one too. It'd create another distraction from Pacquiao.

Can we all agree that at this point PBF has no intentions of fighting Pacquiao, but is simply hoping he will lose? And that if and when he does, somehow PBF can make the claim he was better all along and that he no longer needs to face him to prove it?
