Damn. Juarez has lost his last five. Is he done? Anyone see his last three? Against Linares, Sanabria and Escobedo? I haven't seen him fight since the Litzau fight (don't have Telefutura). Fight with Escobedo was closer than it should've been and apparently Juarez has enough fans left for the suggestion of a robbery to have been floated (I had Escobedo winning by at least 3 pts). That said, yeah he's done. Once upon a time he could rely on his power and his chin. Neither are a factor any more, with his chin/punch resistance getting worse with each fight. An additional aside, Escobedo didn't exactly light the world on fire either.
I saw it referred to as a cul de sac fight rather than a crossroads battle. truth is that it was a (sorta) has-been against a never-was (or will be).

juarez seems like a nice guy, but he's frustrating to watch. oh well, at least he'll no longer be taking up space in ppv undercards.
Juarez is frsutrating to root for, but he's still a pleasure to watch. There's something satisfying about watching a fighter as deliberate and as careful as Juarez explode in a violent flury when he sees an opening. He absolutely stalks his opponents.
He could punch but i wouldn't rank him as an elite in that category either. He'll weigh near as much as David Tua soon after he retires. You can bank on it.
I'd say Juarez was one of the hardest punchers in his division, for a long time. If that's not an elite puncher in your book, then I'd question the value of the distinction. Juarez doesn't seem like to me the type to get fat, but I could be wrong. David Tua is not fat.
maybe early in his career when he was knocking out stiffs. when has been in a good fight since barrera I? maybe the barrios fight, but that's about it.
I recognize it's not a commonly held view, but even his fights with Chris John and Litzau I found to be suspensful and entertaining.
