How did you HONESTLY score Mayweather vs Castillo 1?

Close one this was for sure. Many say Castillo won due to his aggression and power punches landed, but imo, I called the first fight a draw.

I thought Floyd's jab was very effective and altho he did not use his right hand alot during the course of the right, he used it effectively when required.
Castillo was very aggressive throughout. Many times he'd back Floyd up against the ropes, having success to the body, also landing clean head shots.
There were rounds where Castillo was being aggressive, but wasn't throwing a great deal and Floyd would use his jab and use the ring well and I thought he won rounds this way, picking his shots off rather than going for power shots.

Due to both fighters having points taken off and the way I scored rounds, I had it a 113-113 draw.

    You?

I had it to Mayweather by about 3 rounds last time I scored it. Castillo dominated the middle rounds but Floyd pulled it out late like a champion.

the interesting thing is that the official scorecards in the rematch was actually closer than the scores from the first one.

I just remember even at that time, many people HATING PBF. So anything that made him look less than superman, people were going nuts for. No doubt Castillo gave him the best fight of his career, but Floyd won.

    I had it a draw.

I forget which round, but (in my eyes) the pivotal round is the round Floyd lost a point for using his elbow. Those who had Floyd winning the round scored it 9-9, those who had Castilio winning the round scored it 10-8 (as I did).

On most scorecards seems that's the margin of victory. It was a close fight.

Typical overcompensation for the first cards. Happens in nearly every rematch to a contested decision.

  17. Mayweather 8 rounds to 4

Castillo only won rounds 6,7,9,12 from what I remember.

  18. Rounds 8 and 10 were pivotal. They were the infamous point deduction rounds.

HBO gave them both to Castillo, I thought Floyd CLEARLY won both of them. Pop in the tape and watch those rounds alone. They can be the difference of 4 points on your scorecards.

At the time? PBF was more respected and liked back then than he is now. Whatever HATE you're referring to back then has only gotten worse.

I'll see if I have time this week. All my fight tapes are in storage in Calgary, on the other side of the country. I'll have to download a copy.

I remember at one point in the fight and the ref told both guys to calm it down. LOL. "Calm it down?, it's a fight!" lol.

"Nobody paid to see this referee."

It was Dick Drakulich. The guy, like many referees, is a dumb-ass. I'm guessing referee jobs are handed out as favors.

I had Floyd Mayweather winning it 6-5-1. 114-112 after the two point deductions. I thought Floyd won the first 4 or 5 rounds. The point deduction rounds are the pivotal two rounds of the match, as a couple others have mentioned. That pretty much decides the fight. I thought Floyd won both of them, therefore got a 10-8 and a 9-9 round.
