Are we just predicting the mayweather/ortiz and alvarez/gomez fights this weekend?

It's about time that British title fights, Commonwealth and European title fights were drafted into this thing of ours. Fights like Fury vs Chisora, DeGale vs Groves, Cleverly vs Bellew etc should all be considered, if, for no other reason, than because these guys are going to be fighting for "World" titles in the near future anyways.

Yep, agreed, but our fellow fightbeaters from across the World, I bet, would not agree.

I know for a fact that DeGale-Groves was included.

Cleverly-Bellew is next month and will be added to the list of picks, along with Hopkins-Dawson and others. We just made 10/1 the cutoff for now before adding more fights.

Fury-Chisora came at a time when the wheels basically fell off of this thing. It was temporarily restored, with Hut-Hut soliciting requests for Khan-Judah as a quick fix.

That said, do we want to add Fury-Firtha? I've seen similiar US-based matchups that were rejected as entries.

Plus, Hut Hut kept it "limited" to major title fights, or championship-level fights. For example, Mercito Gesta is a fight or so away from challenging for a world title and fights this weekend, but was never considered for this. Shit, the winner of Jessie Vargas-Josesito Lopez (on Ortiz-Floyd u/c) could very well next face Khan or Maidana, yet we're not picking that fight.

Just want to make sure a regional bias isn't being suggested here (which is silly anyway considering it's Hut Hut's creation).

As far as I can see, yes. Hut Hut has final say, but I don't see any other fights worth entering.

Flirted with adding Morales-Cano, but I doubt anyone here had even heard of Cano prior to last week much less have seen any of his fights.

Hear Hear.......any fight which attracts an interest, beyond some sort of freak-interest, should be considered. I'm not suggesting there was any bias, but that things do get overlooked. Some of the European fights can be hard to be pick, people who follow boxing in a truly cosmopolitan fashion, will pick up good points because they follow the racket. Kevin Mitchell vs John Murray was a good example where even following the fights can see you fall short.

I think Cleverly v Bellew should be in the predictions league this weekend.

It is, Jake feels that way too, and so do I. Plus a fight at a press conference that isn't faked and requires the Constabulary to break up is always a good fight to make Predoze on.

Yup the fight is so big that nobody even knows when it is.

I already said I'd add the fight to the schedule - but for the date on which they actually fight, which is October 15.

Believe me, Warren's people send out press releases every day for that event. It's literally the first thing I read every morning when checking my e-mails.

This weekend's "big" UK fight is Tyson Fury-Nikolai Firtha.

Jake, what's your thoughts on the tyson marquez v concepcion rematch? You think it'll go more or less the same way as the first fight?

You'll have to wait until next month, when I make my prediction

But seriously... I don't know. I'm amazed that the fight didn't ruin both of their careers to be honest. But I think I like Marquez in not quite as brutal a fight this time around. I don't see Concepcion fighting any other way than what we've already seen. That will (once again) be his downfall

Hut*Hut, your thoughts on adding the following to the schedule this weekend, if only for the sake of picking something this weekend:

Friday 9/23 Marcos Maidana vs. Petr Petrov - 12 rds, super lightweight

Friday 9/23 Vicente Escobedo vs. Rocky Juarez, 10 rds, lightweight loser-leaves-town match

Saturday 9/24 Jorge Arce vs. Simphiwe Nongqayi - 12 rds, WBO super bantamweight title (rematch)

Sunday 9/25 Dmitry Pirog vs. Gennady Martirosyan - 12 rds, WBO middleweight title

I'd say two of the four appear to be walkovers, but all four carry some semblance of relevance in the grand scheme of things (though Esco-Juarez probably the least of the bunch)
