I pick Lewis. Head to head these are the two best guys ever and Lewis has more trouble with some guys whom Ali beats clearly, but head to head Lewis' reach, long jab and strength inside earn him a close victory

Ali out jabs him to a decision

Ali by decision, KO wouldn't be shocking.

Ali. His superior footwork would be the key. He'd keep turning Lewis, not letting him set, he would out land him, would not cop more than a couple in a row, & has the chin to take the shot when LL lands.

Watch any of LL fights then watch Ali in his prime. The speed difference is huge, & Ali was only a couple of inches shorter.

Lewis has grown steadily in his own mythology in the short time since his exit. He is now REALLY over-rated in some quarters.

Not at all. Lennox was the truth.

Hes in my top 10 ever, dont misunderstand that - but when factions start talking about him being in the top 3-5 of all-time, or H2H the 2nd best Heavy ever, well...

What HWY's on their best night would you pick to beat Lewis on his best night Ramonza?

Yes the speed difference is there, but watch prime Ali getting hit by Mildenberger or Chuvalo or slightly off-prime Ali against Jones and Norton and you just have to give Lewis a solid chance. Lewis was never outboxed on his career but of course, if anyone could do it it would be Ali

Sure, but I guess we're talking both on their best nights & I think Ali would have huge respect for LL's power, & as such would be very hard to catch with more than 2 consecutive flush, hard shots.

As such, I can't see Lewis stopping Ali.

I think Ali's superior fluidity & footwork mean's he would out-land Lewis. Lewis may land the bigger shot;'s but Ali has the better chin & lands more often, so as far as hurting one another, it may be pretty even. Also Ali's a master of not looking hurt when he is.

So judges will see Ali land more, look sharper, & not get that much more hurt by Lewis than vice-versa.

    Ali by close dec.

Ali would go to the ropes, and once he did, it would only be a question of whether Lewis had the bravery to let his hands go. If he did, he would do serious damage.

How often did you see Ali on the ropes between 65-67?

I would only prohibitively favour Ali, Liston, & Foreman. Close fights which could readily swing either way where I may or may not favour Lewis would be Tyson, Frazier, Dempsey, Holmes, Liston, a younger Holyfield, Bowe, & Louis.

Sorry bro. I have no problem with your take though: we see boxing very differently, that's why I have always found your views interesting
