David Tua vs Joe Frazier

Well let's agree to disagree because I think he keeps getting floored and getting up until it's stopped. Frazier had a huge heart so I don't see him staying down but either the ref or corner stops it. He would get some good shots in on Tua too and hurt him too but in the end I see this as Tua tko6

    come on

he also made excuses for every loss he ever had... he lost to RON STANDER, Sly

Shavers is full of shit, the chinless bastard would have gotten beat down by Frazier

  3. Shavers was indeed a chinless bastard, no denying that. However you know that had Shavers never fought Norton, you'd be sayig this exact same thing regarding a Norton-Shavers matchup.

  4. Cdogg it's simple logic:

In the battle of infighting brawlers, the bigger one with the better chin wins.

    Sorry to tell ya.

not with his history and with his general skittishness against pressure

Norton needed a fight where he could use strategy, where he could be the aggressor... Frazier, on the other hand, relished close quarters contact, thrived on it

not if one of them is 10 times more skillfull and has 10 times more heart

  7. nonsense.

You and I both know that had Norton never faced Shavers you would have insulted anyone and everyone who would have had the temerity to claim Shavers KO 1.

  8. irrelevant.

Frazier only knew how to fight one way: stay in close and go to war.

It's a simple matter of physics. Fully loaded (highly skilled), Fuel filled (full of heart) SUV goes head to head with a MAC truck: we know which one is getting the majority of the damage.

not at all... there is a precedent for it, you can make it simply by comparing Frazier and Norton's efforts against Foreman (who, to be fair, should rightly be insulted by anyone mentioning him with Shavers) ... What was Frazier's reaction to the punichment? Get up and go right at him ... Norton on the other hand, was gone from the first hard shot he fielded, the writing was on the wall for him, he was just trying to get away... Also, Norton wasn't a pressure guy, wasn't a brawler... you look at the guys Shavers was knocked out by, they were aggressive guys who took it to him, Quarry, Stander (again, just want to point out how amazing it is that you are claiming that Frazier couldn't do what STANDER did) Lyle (who tried to box him a bit first) ... Another thing, how many times did Shavers floor guys and fail to finish them off? He was maybe the greatest one-shot hitter in history, but he was a miserable finisher generally... If you are goign to knock out Joe Frazier (again, a guy Foreman had to drop six times to stop) , you better be a real finisher... Shavers was no such thing... He has a chance of hurting Shavers early, but there is nothing to suggest he stops him, and there's nothing to suggest Frazier is unable to get to him, hurt him and knock him senseless

If the Mack Truck likes to deccelerate when met with resistance and bodypunching, the fully loaded SUV wins

and again, this is a 15 pound thing

we aren't putting Rocky Marciano in there with Tua

Oh, and one other thing, if Tua is a mack truck, he is a mack truck with deflated tires

    this just isn't true.

Frazier's workrate was better, and his conditioning was better, but if he's gonna win its by relying on those aspects. A guy who threw essentially one punch isn't 10 times more skillful than anyone.

but he didn't throw one punch... the right hand to the body is a completely overlooked part of Frazier's arsenal, and he was excellent at slipping the jab and getting it in there time and again, which would inevitably lead to the left hook to the body and of course the hook to the head... Frazier had an excellent rhythm offensively, and it got to be that once he was warmed up, he seemed to be able to land that hook constantly... slip-slip-bob-weave-right body-left body- left hook up top... very seamless... I never saw any semblance of that from Tua, whose head movement was neglible in general and who seemed to easily fall into stretches where he was throwing one shot at a time, often without proper means of setting it up... I think Frazier is far more skilled

It's simply not true... Norton and Frazier are wildly different fighters

Frazier feasted on a horrible division and smaller guys coming up. Id say it isn't an exaggeration that 90% of Frazier's landed shots were left hooks. He'd outwork Tua cause Tua sucks, but frazier would lose to Lennox in 2 rounds tops.

You are utterly clueless if you believe anything close to 90% of Fraziers shots were left hooks. Thats the politest I can put it.

Ask Ali --- hell, ask ANY Frazier rival if they left the ring with their ribs aching on only one side.

Fraziers lethal bodygame was a two-handed assault.

It's just not accurate to say this

First off, beating Ali is a huge win... I'm not really interested in your theories as to why Ali sucks, he didn't suck at all... Below that, you've got Quarry, Ellis and Bonavena, all very credible challengers (Ellis was a unification bout and Frazier destroyed him) ... Furthermore, I don't know whether it's just been a long time since you saw a Frazier fight or something, but the idea that all he did was throw left hooks to the head doesn't seem to match reality... He was a two handed bodypuncher... the hook to the head was the coup de grace, but the great body work was as important to his game

Thats what beat most men, the body attack.
