Bullshit comparison IMO. Dawson's foul was throwing him down while grabbing the back of his leg. A clear indicator that he wanted Hopkins to fall onto the floor. Do I WISH THE DECISION WASN'T OVERTURNED AND DAWSON KEPT THE TKO? of course. Hopkins is a cheat and he deserves to be faulted for it. But the rules are the rules. So i knew it would be overturned.
They're frankly worse than 'real fouls' since they're ways to cheat your way out of what your there, being paid, to do - FIGHT. Low blows and sneaky elbows run the risk of a retort from your opponent and they're moves that you expect referees to penalise you for......this insidious new realm of 'escapology' seems to carry no consequences other than ruining fights and taking away whole dimensions of your opponents skillset. It's far more damaging to the sport than a fighter hitting his opponents cup now and then. They have to be addressed.
What's hilarious is the, "oh-fuck," panic in Hopkins eyes when his opponent doesn't stand for his climbing, cowardly tactics. What's sickening is the degree to which his tactics are celebrated and complemented by the HBO broad-cast team.
Floyd has it down to an art.....pushing guys heads down every 30s, forearm shoving guys in the neck to stop them punching inside, turning his back all the way round, ducking below his opponents waist. It's Jimmy Young sticking his head outside the ropes over and over against Ali.....except when it's physically depleting the opponent at the same time, it's worse. Hell, at least low blows and elbows are in the spirit of what fighters there to do..... FIGHT. Booo!
