Looking forward to Angulo-Kirkland!!

Its been disappointment city for us boxing fans lately, but next week we FINALLY have a fight that almost certainly will produce fireworks.

Does ANYBODY give Kirkland a chance though? I know I dont.

I think Angulo will put him to sleep within 4. But it'll be alot of fun awhile it lasts.

I have a VERY HARD time seeing Kirkland last longer than 4.

 

I'll root for Kirkland even though he left his chin in jail.

Should be good war, Im taking Kirkland, i think hell have shrugged off the prison rust by now.
This fight alone justified me extending my hbo subscription for another week... after that its a pretty bleak landscape

Even in hindsight that was such a weird result. Not just based only on records, but even seeing the physicality of both guys you'd never think Kirkland would get dusted like that. That's even if you knew he was taking the fight lightly and was out of shape.

A more likely result still would be Kirkland getting jabbed in the face and resorting to ineffectively bum rushing Ishida and tiring in the process.

However it looked like some muscled up drunk going against Alexis Arguello.

 

I can't get footage of Kirkland's last two fights after the Ishida loss, but from what I saw against Ishida, Kirkland will need to bring a different strategy to the fight to try and win, but I think his chances are very slim.
Against Ishida, Kirkland came out fast and swinging. This will be the worst thing to do against a puncher like Angulo. When Kirkland fought Ishida, his hands were low, he was looking to take Ishida out and wasn't thinking about his defense and paid the price (and this was against a guy who had SEVEN Ko's to his name, in 22 fights, LOL). If he does the same thing against Angulo, it's goodnight sweetheart, early on.

Kirkland isn't Cintron, but he's going to have to take a leaf out of Cintron's book to see how to beat Angulo, but i'm afraid I just can't see him doing this and he won't last more than 3 rounds.

 

Even PRE-prison Kirkland's chin wasnt that good. Angulo has the better chin, is the bigger puncher, the straighter puncher, and is more technically skilled.

In reality Kirkland's BEST chance is to wack Angulo out within 4. Which I think Angulo is too durable for. Kirkland himself will probably get dusted early, but even if he doesnt..... I think the longer the fight goes the worse the ass whuppin will be for Kirkland.

I dont think he'll have to worry about taking an ass whuppin though. He'll be sleep early.

 

Kirkland only knows one way to fight and we've never seen a reason to believe otherwise.

Ishida hasn't fought since Kirkland. Maybe he's thinking of retirement. Go out on a high after that shock win.

Yeah I think the win has shocked him. He thinks he can hurt people now. He's probably scared to fight again in case he moiders somebody. Kirkland should write to him and tell him not to worry, that he, James, is really just that bad.
