Floyd Mayweather Jnr vs Jake Lamotta at 160lbs

Discussion in 'Mythical Matchups' started by Destruction and Mayhem, Oct 28, 2011.

  1. Let's say the version of Lamotta that beat SRR. Let's say that Floyd came into the ring weighing 150lbs.

    What transpires?

I'll tell you what would transpire in such a matchup....Floyd wouldn't get hit anywhere near as much as Robinson did and would win a decision on defense and accurate effective punching.

Floyd has no punch to keep LaMotta off him like Robinson did, therefore, he's fucked.

  3. Punch power by itself isn't mandatory to keep a guy off you. Sharp counterpunching and excellent defense work just as well.

    LaMotta runs him right over

    you are a tool, Sly

Sly, did you not see the Castillo fights?

Effective aggression and a solid chin.

LaMotta too damn big and strong for Floyd.

  6. You don't know boxing, Cdogg. You think TEN POUNDS is going to compensate for the Pacific sized GULF between the skills of the two men?

Shiiiiiiiiit if that were the case Valuev would have annihilated Haye.

Lamotta and Mayweather were the same height and Jake had short arms. Floyd would have outboxed him same speed.

    Idiotic, completely idiotic

  8. Truth man.

You explain to me how TEN POUNDS is going to suddenly give Jake more height, more reach, more speed...all the things he'd need to avoid being outboxed by Mayweather.

I'd bet my house on this fight. Ten pounds don't mean shit. In the ring you'd have two 5'8" guys, with one fighting taller, having longer reach, faster hands, better defense..and you're telling me that Jake La Motta wins JUST because he has ten pounds of extra fat on his hairy body!

    Ludicrous.

Explain to me how Jake will pull off this miracle.

  9. Floyd injured in first Castillo fight yet won it clearly. Walked the second fight with 8 rounds...and Floyd then wasn't as strong as he was at Welterweight. At 140lbs and above Floyd would have brutalized Castillo.

You actually think Floyd is a better welterweight than lightweight? The illusion is complete.:bears: Floyd is a genius.

"as strong as he was at Welterweight"?

Who is this Murderers Row list of Welterweights that Floyd has been laying out lately?

    C'mon man, c'mon.

  13. Nah...he's a better Welterweight and Jnr Welterweight relative to Castillo.

but yes..Floyd is a genius! :kidcool:

  14. Floyd is stronger than given credit for. I saw him pushing Shane around all over that ring..the same Shane that bullied the supposed Welterweight killer..Margarito.

  16. Nah....my positions are just unpopular because I tell it as I see it and don't bow down and take it up the ass from supposed conventional wisdom which is that modern fighters simply couldn't hang with the greats from the 80s and before..regardless of what genius they've proven in the ring.

LaMotta wasn't even a killer puncher. All he has on Floyd is black and white footage and ten pounds. That's it!

Floyd has reach, speed, defense, movement, probably height..basically everything.

    Lamotta beat Floyd?

    :pointlaugh:

I said this before...you're a fan of floyd not fighting. Day by day I'm proven more and more correct.

  18. I was a fan long before Floyd came along and after he's done I'll be a fan long after.

I just happen to think Floyd is top 10 p4p all time material and most of y'all don't see that until after a guy has retired for good.

Well that y'all problem. I have foresight. :kidcool:

I'd bet if we had this conversation say in May of 2003 you would've said the exact same about Roy Jones. Probably more demonstrative considering you were a self-proclaimed "bigger fan" of Roy than you are Floyd.

I think floyd has some success in this fight, but wouldn't be able to keep lamotta off him all night. Lamotta would be caught by sharp counterpunches, but this doesn't deter him and the longer the fight progresses, lamotta is the one who benefits and lands very frequently and uses his size advantage to pummell floyd, resulting in a stoppage.

"On paper" Chavez shouldn't have been able to touch Taylor and yet somehow while Taylor "won" rounds he managed to absorb terrible punishment and take a beating in the process.

Let's say Steele let's Taylor finish on his feet...Taylor had already taken a beaten he never recovered from.

The same is true in this matchup...UNLESS Sly is under the impression Lamotta never touches Floyd.

Lest we not forget...Chavez was never a big puncher himself.

Honestly anyone who thinks that throwing 30 pounches a round against Jake LaMotta when you are a small welterweight who was really a lightweight is a winning proposition is completely ignorant

If Mayweather somehow survives to the final bell, it is to hear a hideously one-sided decision AGAINST him

It's worth pointing out that Robinson averaged over 100 punches a round against Lamotta. Jake brings allot of pressure.

    zero divided by zero equals...well...zero.

There's no way on God's Green Earth that Mayweather beats LaMotta at Middleweight. Sly is just trolling again.

  25. YO...

Taylor was NEVER as elusive as Floyd "The Ghost" Mayweather. NEVER.

Lamotta certainly "touches" Floyd but not frequently enough or powerfully enough to force a stoppage.

Stoppage from the 5'8", not incredibly powerful, t-rex armed lamotta isn't possible here.

  26. If Floyd throws 30 punches a round in this fight (he's capable of throwing far more when pushed) then it would mean that Lamotta is only throwing about the same amount...but landing far less. Floyd reduces the punch output of his opponents.

Taylor/chavez is kind of a good comparison for floyd/lamotta, to a degree, but i think floyd doesn't ''do a taylor'' and instead he would opt to pick his shots/counter punches and has some success in doing so, but lamotta's relentlessness proves too much for floyd to handle.

One guy who Floyd couldn't dampen the output of was Emmanual Augustus. The dude was throwing 150 punches some rounds. Wanna know why? He was fucking mental. Runnin' amuck no gee'in' a fuck.

Floyd ain't gonna limit Lamotta to fewer than 75 odd punches a round, IMO.

Floyd reduces the output of guys who need to be worried about getting hurt by counters

Floyd brings NOTHING that would make LaMotta cautious

    He'd run your boy over
